Sig Riddle and Maughan filled out the top five. The second moto was again Liedberg's domain as he crushed the competition with a perfect 1-1 sweep. Frampton held on to his second pl ace ' position o ve r a h ard- charging Nielson. In Open Pro action Mik e Starks holeshot th e first m ot o foll owed by Niel son and Riddle. Nielson quickly displaced Starks, and R iddl e also soon moved by Starks. Riddle co ntinued to pr essure Nielson right up to th e finish but could n't make a p ass . " N ielso n won follow ed b y Riddle, Mike Deval a nd Starks. The second moto was all Nielso n as he blasted to the "lead a nd never looked ba ck. Riddle stuffed Starks sh ortl y a fter the start th at a lso all ow ed Deval to gel by. Deval and Riddle put on a spectacular show as th ey battled .£or second, un til Deval went down. Star ks and Lundgren passed Deval while he was down, bu t Deval remounted and worked back in to thi rd place . Nielson took the win over Riddle and Deval. Russell romps at Talladega Ro~d Race By Cindy Bowen TALLAD EGA , AL , APR. 10 SCOtt Russ ell dominated the WERA Nat ional meet at Talladega Gran Prix Raceway , winning all six classes h e entered , includin g all three Suzu ki National Cup races. This was the second co nsecu tive weekend that R u ssell a n d hi s Dunl op / EBC Brak es/ Solmax Racing/Bruce Hammer-T ea m Hammer/Kal-Gard/ AG V Helmet s-sponsored Su ztikis ha ve made a clean sweep of the Suzuki National Cup races, beating Suzuki Cup contenders such as Mike H ar th and Jamie James. T he closest race of the day was the B Production Expert go. Harth got the holeshot on his Suzuki GSXR750 and led the field into tu rn one. Russell moved into' second in the singleton sweeper with J ames right on hi s rear fender. James outbraked Russell for the pass in turn four to take , over second. Ru ssell passed James back in turn eigh t com ing onto the front straight and then James pulled alongside of Russell at the start/fin ish line in the battle for secon d. O n the next lap, Russell and J ames then began closing on leader Harth, but Harth pulled away on th e back straight. Russell and James out.bra ked Harth going into turn four ' tolessen the gap. On lap three, Russell moved up on Harth and began breathing down his n eck, while the ambu lance entered the trac k to check on George Fox who had crashed in tu rn one, throwing dirt onto the track. Russell made his move on Harth on lap five by going to the inside in turn four. Harth, realizing Russell . was there, leaned on him, almost forcing him off th e tra ck. Russell held his ground, followed Harth around and then passed him o n the inside of turn eigh t to take the lead. R ussell and his Vic Fasola-tuned GSXR750 then began pulling away fro m Harth and James, increasing his lead. Lap seven saw James hit the dirt thrown on the track in turn one from Fox 's crash and James went dow n hard causing the race to be red flagged, Since over half of th e race had been completed, the race was called and the results were taken from the pr evious lap, giving Russell the win with Harth second and Mike Smith third.
