The A Production race had some close racing at the start between Sander Avent, Glenn Heintschel Jr. , Malt Maschmann, Guillermo Villarreal and Taylor Villarreal took second behind Taylor, and Maschmann finished third ahead of Heintschel and Avent. The rider and spectator turnout was quite large for the first road race of the year held in Texas. Several riders came up from Mexico to race. Among them was Javier Martinez riding a Suzuki GSXR750. This was Martinez's first time on the Oak Hill track and he led the early stages of the B Superbike race in which there were 30 entries.
