Joe Wadding.ton (58) won the 125cc Pro class while mixing it up with 250cc Pro wmner Grayson Hart at Perris Raceway. Chrls Trickle pulled off a triple win at Las Vegas Motocross Park by toppmg the 125, 250 and 500cc Intermediate classes. on to win the ' Heavyweight Supersport class over Rick Shaw and Mark Chin . Jacks also won th e Middleweight G P event and finished fourth in the SIOOO Shoot-Out. Paul Bray took top honors in the Unlimited Supersport class over Ri ck Shaw and . Gainesville rider Bill Beesch. In Unlimited GP action, Rick Sh aw crashed hard in turn five on th e first lap of th e feature but su ffered only minor damage to his body th e bike was not so lucky. Scott Cantrell went on 10 take the check ered flag followed by Suzuki pilots Ri ck H erndon, and Robert Caraway, Rick came back to win the $1000 ShootOut over Ca nt rell, Pa u l Dray and Do n a ld J a cks. Paul Bray. • Trickle triples las Vegas MX '.By Dick Goodwin LAS VEGAS , NV, MAR . 13 Chris Trickle competed in th e 125, 250 and ~OOcc Intermediat e divisions and won them all at the La s Vegas M.oto~oss Park. Trickle did it by wmnmg every moto he entered. Trickle did, however , have 10 survive a wild second 125cc Interrne- . diate moto dogfight with Derek Titus and T.L. Taylor. In the Open Intermediate cla ss Kevin Bartlett came closest and 250cc Intermediate King Richard Saxton let him know he was there in that class. Nevertheless, the Honda of Las Vegas hotshoe overcame all obstacles as he ran perfect for the day. The half-liter holocaust began with a Trickle triumph as he holeshot the entire field, including the. pros. Brad Simcox was close behind, followed by Pro rider Scott Underwood . Sax IOn suffered first lap proble ms and dro p ped from conte n tio n ear ly. Las Vegas Suzuki 's T it us ; Trickle 's tormen tor in I25cc action, was clos ing fast unt il h is bike seized durin g lap two, a nd Trickle breezed to the win. In r~ce two Trickle holesho t again, bu t Sim cox passed him in the first turn. Trickle quickly repassed, then Underwood blew by on the Desert Freeway during lap three. Trickle, racing.his .sixth tough moto of the day , might have been sucking a little wind by th is time as he let the streaking Underwood fly and concentrated on holding on to a solid second. .Sax ton was having none of this, however, and throughout th e rest of the race he crept closer and closer to the speeding Honda of Trickle's. Northwest Cycle-backed Skidmore took the holesho t and was chased throug hout the moto b y Steve Schoenberger in the 125cc B class. Schoenberger pressured Skidmore but cou ldn't p roduce any tri cks to take the lead. Yor k was ru nni ng second when t~e 250cc B class bu sted through th e Iirst berm fo ll owmg Kawa sakimount ed Bill y McGuire. The Connec- . ticut rider pulled up behind the 250cc Pro leader, Grayson Han, and on lap six went by a nd into th e overall lead. H art stayed close beh ind for a couple of laps and then dropped off the pace. Ulf J ohansson was on th e gas and started to close on H art la te in th e rno to, wit h Gary Semics in tow. Second 125cc H onda p ilot , Joey Tu t tob en e, was in pu rsu i t for runner-u p honors, as Waddington crossed the checkered flag first 125cc and overall Pro class winner. In moto !"wo Hart holeshot wit h Johan~son and Gary DiP ill o making II a tight threesome. Waddington gated fourth and had T u ttob ene almost attached to his rear fender. Hart and Johansson had a tight race going with DePillo losing a couple of bike lengths to the Duo, Two laps later Johansson retired from the race with mechanical problems, giving t":"o . 250c~ hono~s to a charging DrP illo WIth Sernics claiming th ir d place. Waddington was hot on th e th ro ttle , as he rode his way to his second 125cc P ro class win of the day. Hart held onto the lead in the 250cc class , taking the overall with a I- I outing. I?iPillo took second place honors With Semics recervm g third. In the 250cc Int ermediate class Steven Sibe ll put h is Pro Circui t! Maxim a/ Sun West Yam aha into 'the winners circle in both mot os for th e overall win with Doug Allen taking second pl ace honors. Brian Davy and Larry Nannenga dueled in the Open class with N annen gadogging Davy all -the way to th e check ered in both rnotos. Thi rd went to H ondamounted Bill Erb. In Vet class action Alan Olson took the Expert class overa ll win with a perfect I- I score . Dan Whi te stayed in close company wi th O lson in both motos, but never fou nd th e hot line to take the lead. AT K rider George Kohler and Mar ino Bastionell pu t on a duel tha t last ed the entire length of moto one, with Koh ler edgi ng out the SCR Suzuki of Bastio nell for third.place. Vet Intermediate action had Bengt J o h a n sso n putting his CR250 H o nd a out in front in bo th motos while beh ind him Keit h Petrangeld took second aboard a four -stro ke H usky in the first moto. In rnoto two Jody Weisel stayed in the number two slo t for seco nd overall after scoring third in 'mo to one. In Vet Novice racing Chris Tuttob ene put his 125cc Yamaha into the lead in moto on e, o nly to drop back into the pack as 125cc Honda rider Anthony Procida rocketed into the lead. P rocida held onto the lead fo r the next six laps, on ly to have Vic Parker go by with only two laps left in the moto.
