Eyans tOJlS Clark CountyST By Derryl Anderson R ID G EFI EL D, WA, JAN. 29 Ron Evans came back strong in the main event to claim the win in the Plus 30 class of the short track held . at the Clark County Fairgrounds. For the second week in a row the track was wide, smooth and fast. Dan Bushnell got the lead in the first heat race followed by David Anderson, Evans, Greg P help s and George Tippitts. On lap three Evans slid past Anderson and Tippins lost it in turns three and four and retired for the remainder of the race. At the checkered flag it was Bushnell, Evans, Anderson and Phelps. The second heat race was led from stan to finish by Steve Herreid. Behind him initially was Tim Fellows, Tom Stein and Don Fenske. Everyone ran with about a five yard gap between riders. Then with one lap to go Stein passed Fellows. At the finish it was Herreid, Stein, Fellows and Fenske. . In the main event Evans got an excellent holeshot and went the distance without lookitig back. Behind him off the line was Fellows, Bushnell, Steiri, Herreid and the others. Evans was out front with 30 yards on the others: Meanwhile Anderson lost it and was out for the n igh t: All positions remained the same right down to the checkered flag. . . In the hotly contested l25cc class heat race Kevin Bass got the lead ahead of Pat Munyon, Ryan Anderson and Tina Palmer. Bass enjoyed a small lead while Anderson pushed Munyon lap af ter lap with Palmer right behind them. At the finish th e order was still the same. . In the main Bass got the ho leshot with Anderson righ t on his tail. Munyon and Palmer were a lso close behind. Lap after lap Anderson took . his Blendzall/Longview Hondasponsored Honda right to the limit, pushing Bass inside and outside but to no avail. Bass didn't make any mistakes and fina lly took the checkered flag with Anderson right on his rear wheel. Behind the duo was Munyon and Palmer.
