H o n d a -m o u n ted Mark H all ripped into th e first moto lead with Ron Wehr, J ackson, Joel Huskey, and Honda of Caldwell 's Jamie Steelsmith following. Jackson sli ced by Wehr as Todd Peu gh slashed into th ird. H all en la rged his lead until he bailed in a slick, frozen comer. As Hall struggled to get going, Jackson pulled a longsi de a nd-cha llenged for the lead, but Hall roosted away. Dan, Lees, who crashed in th e second turn , powered his Yam aha YZ490 by over half th e field into sixth, whi le Mik e H arris also crashed in ano the r slick com er and found himself in dead last. Like Lees, Harris cha rged spec tac u la rly through th e rid ers into seventh, in front of Husqvarna-pilot and ra ce o rga nizer Steve Moore. J ackson fired a ro und H all into the lead as Peu gh safely co n tro lled third a t mo te 's end. Lees blasted to th e second moto holeshot, quickly putting time o n H uskey, H arr is, Wehr, Peug h a nd Steelsrnith . Peugh and Steelsrnith marched by Weh r as Jackson bega n to charge from seven th to second. H alfway thro ugh the moto Lees h it a spot of ice and went sideways out of control and ou t of the running. J ackson took over the lead wit h H arr is turning in a fine second p lace finish. Peugh put together a no the r third for third overall as Hall barely edged Steelsrnith at the checkers for fourth. Roger Neth took the Int ermed ia te win with a 2-1 score over Dann y Fuhrman 's 1-2, as th e two riders fough t tenaciousl y both m oto s, Kaw asaki-mounted Mik e Thuleen maintained co nt ro l of third in th e seco nd mot o to nudge Roger Veenstra into fourth. Ro bert Barnhart took ' th e fir st Begin ner moto win, but mechanicals in th e second moto allowed Melva Lees to control first and captur e the overa ll win. Deal Riders M.C. no rider has posted more than o ne win in the Novice clas s. This might cha nge, however, if J ohn Ryals competes in future even ts, aft er a convincing wi n toda y. Ryal s was one of 20 rid ers lined up in th e heaviest contested class of th e seaso n. After.th e fir st mil e-long lap Rya ls trai led J o hn Kassapion a nd Lance Ladue, wh o held fir st and seco nd, respecti vely. Ryal s was held th ere through circu it two as Kassa p ion swap ped places wi th Ladue. After a one race absence David Crawford return ed to doing wh at he does best , cap turing ch eckered flags in th e 250cc and th e Open class. Crawford has been untouchable in every ra ce he ha s com peted in this season. The 250cc clas s riders, however, pu t Crawford to th e test as he trailed 111 fifth po siti on after th e first loop went th rough th e scoring sta tio n. Brett Sherman held down fir st p lace. Consisten cy again paid off for Crawford as he moved past one rid er o n each of th e next five laps to notch the number o ne spot and another solid victory. The winning streak of J oel Nabin ger in the 80cc class was brough t to a halt o n la p number six.
