" Suzuki-mou nte d Rodney Smith was th e runner-up in the 250cc division with a 4-2 da y, and Mike Pascarella took third overa ll with a 3-4 score. Mike Larson scored the overall victory in the 500cc Pro class, but Goat Breker locked up th e series championship with 3-1 finishes. The titl e was especially sweet for Breker, who had just come off of a two-year retiremen t, T he titie was his fourt h and set record in Golden State competition. On a lighter note, Breker shaved the heads of three a friends wh o bet he co uldn 't win the senes. Honda-mounted Breker went into the fin al moto with a one-point advan tage on T ommy Watts, but Watts cras he d o n th e first lap , handing Brek er th e ti ti e. After crossing th e finish line Breker brough t out th e shears and in a short time h is friend and sponsor from P ro Circuit, Mit ch Payton, as well as Luc DeLey and Stev e Wis eman were sporting new hair(less) styles. " I think they're a bunch of good . sports for shav ing their heads. That's great, they're all champions," said Breker when he finished th e job. " We just wanted him to win," said Payto n while on his way to " barber" Breker. "And the way to do it is to make these crazy bets because he isn't motivated by mo ney.
