Naughton took th e first l25cc P ro
moto holeshot a head of Bren t Wineland and Kyle Killebrew . Naughton

easy win in th e IO-lap moto while
Young Cycle-sponsored Wineland
broke away from Apache Honda/
USA Sport-sponsored Kill eb rew
halfway through th e moto to take
second at th e checkered flag.
Moto two was nearly a re p lay of
the first m o to, Naughton was off and
running at th e start with KilIebrew
losing the drag race to the'first corner
to Wineland. Naughton took his
second win nine laps later with
Wineland taking another second at
the flag.
Yamaha support rider Kalos took
the first 250cc Pro race holeshot .
ahead of Rick Hinchliff and
Naughton. It only took a few corners
for Naughton to pass Hinchliff but
.in that time Kalos opened up a threesecond lead which h e would hold to
th e fini sh line. Naughton tried a
co m bin a tion of different lines during the moto but Kalos remained an
elusive prey, forcing Naughton to
take second at th e ch eckered flag.
R oger Jones took third after a fifth
p la ce start. Jones battled mostly with
his '88 Honda which tried to spit h im
over the bars a n d la ter in the moto
h ad the rear tire go flat.
Kalos took the second moto h o leshot but Naughton was right on his'
tai l. J ones h ad third at the start
folI owed by H in chl iff. Kalos set a fast
pace early in th e race a nd looked very
relaxed in contrast to Naughton who
was tryin g hard to keep u p . L ap three
saw Ka los lead by five seconds, and
by th e halfway. point Kalos co ncentrated on winning an im promptu
jumping contest. Each lap saw Kalos
slam harder and harder into a steep
tabletop at one end of the course,
