By Sam English
SUNNYMEAD, CA, JAN. 10
Allan Olson topped the Old Timers

at the L.A. Old Timers MX at
DeAnza Cycle Park.
Ol son got the holeshot in the first
moto followed by Ken Retzlaff and
a pack of hungry old men going after

race was close as Retzlaff and Bengt
J oh anson stayed o n Olson's ta il, but
after 12 la ps not one of them could
catc h O lson.
Mo to two was almost a carbon
copy of the first .with Retzlaff and
Dennis Rosenberg coming from the
back of the pack to make it close at
the end. Olson held them off though
fo r his second wi n of the day. '
In the Expert class John Tartagalia pulled out a third in moto one
but came back after a hard-fought
battle between Buzz Moeller · and
Ralph Dickso n to nai l down the win
in moto two for the overall victory.
T he Amateur class didn 't have a
la rge turnout. Gale " Mo to cross
Mom " Webb won the second moto
but ended up third overall behind
overall winner Ed Michette and Bob
CoHman.
.
Sam English got the hol eshot in
th e Novice clas s and held off John
Braasch for the win in the first moto,
T he second moto was a different
story as Dal Ca lais, Pete 'Kassen and
Braasch jumped out front and stayed
i n that order for six la ps until
English picked them off on e-by-one
a nd came up with the win and
