Yamaha 's Broc Glover (24) and Suzuki's Willie Surratt dice in the 250cc Pro class. Glover went on to finish fourth . In the 250cc Pro class, Cag iva's Mike Healey finished third behind Jeff Leisk and Mike Kiedrowski. Leisk smokes to MX Extravaganza win at Perris moved up to challenge Dale Dondel for fourth , however, Breker lost momentum in a turn and lost ground. At the finish, Chamberlain took the win ahead of Haase, Black and Donel, with Breker capturing ' the final transfering position. In the first 250cc Pro moto main, Leisk shot his 1988 Honda CR250 into the lead , while Kiedrowski tried to keep Leisk in sight. By the end of the first lap, Leisk was enjoying a five second lead. In third was Healey with Glover, Lewis and Matiasevich close behind. Soon afte r, Matiasevich and Lewis collided with Matiasevich crashing. Leisk and Kiedrowski pull ed away from the rest of the pack, wh ile H ea ley was keeping busy trying to keep Glover at bay . Kerry Mulligan was clinging to Lewis' . rear tire, looking for room to pass. Behind Mulligan pursued Arnet, Ward and Mike Pascarell a. For the remainder of the race, positions remained the same as they rode across the finish line. Round two saw Healey blast out of the gate ahead of Leisk, Turner and Kiedrowski. Healey maintained his lead for the next three laps before Leisk made his move and charged on by, while Kiedrowski slipped by Turner. Leisk began pulling away while Healey had his hands full with Kiedrowski inches behind. Behind them were Ward, G lover and Turner. The top three riders opened up a gap on fourth place Ward, who held a few second margin on the G lover/ Turner duel. Behind them, Matiasevich was moving up through the ranks after a first lap fall that left him in dead last. At mo to 's end , Leisk took the win and overall, ahead of Kiedrowski , who finished u p th ird overall. Healey finished up the seco nd moto in sixth for third overall. Glover never did find the hot line around T urner b u t still fi nished fourth overall. R ounding out the to p five was ' Turner's 7-5 score . When the event da' J ff .concluded, Team Hon ~ ~ Leisk wrapped up the wm In 10 the .ta l e nt- f~ n ed 25~cc ':'ro class, beaung the likes of Mike Kiedrowski, Mike Healey, Broc Glover, Ron Tur~er, .Gordon War~, Eel; Arnet, Eddie Hicks, Jeff Matiasevich and Terry Fowler. In the l25cc Pro cla ss, Matiasevich wound up on top, while Goat Breker captured the Open Pro class victory. Following Saturday night's pingpong tournament, hve .music and barbeque, Sunday mornmg dawned cool and foggy. Two qualifiers and one semi were used to weed .out the large en~nts of 250cc Pro nders to .com pe te m the ~~in even ~. In the first 250cc qualifier, Marun Klossner timed the gate p'erfectly an~ jumpedout to .a shortlived lead. During the second lap , Leisk dove underneath Kiedrowski as the two riders flew over a ta bletop ju m p , with Leisk edging ahead. At the same time, Kyle Lewis snuck past Surratt for fourth. With the checkered flag in sight, Lewis set after Glover and made ~he pass before the checkers. The top five went to Leisk, Kiedrowski, Lewis, Glover and Surratt. . Cagiva-mounted Mike H ealey smoked into the lead a t th e start of the second 250cc Pro qualifier ahead of Kerry Mulligan and Fowler. Mo ving into fourth pla ce wa s Yamaha rider Turner, while Mati. asevich started to .make a move and even tua ll y worked his way ' i nto second place. Healey opened up a small lead over Matiasevich, while Fowler moved into third and Arnet fourth. At the finish, it was H ealey, Matiasevich, Fowler, Arn et and Mulligan. Highlighting the 250cc semi ra ce was Goa t Breker rid i n g a 1981 R M250 which was far fro m stock looking. T he frame. motor. plastic and grips were painted purple, as was Breker 's riding gear. The motorcycle 's tires were colo red white. Ji m Ch amber lain claimed the holeshot ahead of Darren Hoeft and J eff Haase. Breker was running near the end of the pack but was gaining gr ound q uickly. Honda- moun ted J er r y Black moved into third place behind Cham berlain and H aa se. Breker into the lead over Matiasevich ana Honda rider Larry Brooks. Brooks, however, quickly took care of Matiasevich and took off after leader Young. Yamaha-mounted C h r is Young motored up to Broo ks after passing Matiasevich. . Brooks latched on to Young's quick pace and eventually lassoed the Cagiva pilot in. From that point on, the race was all Brooks'. Bu t the top five positions were far from bein decided. Lewis, in the mea ntime, was sneaking up to the fro n t after a midpack start. By the time the wh ite flag appeared, second through fifth posit ions were still u p in the air, an d after a few last lap passes, the fi na l order was Brooks, Le wis, Pascarella, Matiasevich and H eal ey. j Healey rocketed his Ca gi va into the early lead at the start of the second moto, while Lewis and Chris Young closely pursued. Brooks en ded his ride during the first la p, after cras hin g over a tab letop j u m p. H ealey was holding on to his lead but Lewis and Chris Young were charging hard. Behind them battled . Matiasevich and Kiedr owski. D u r i n g the third lap, H ea ley dropped out of the race handing the lead over to Lewis. But Lewis got out of shape over a jump, knocking the wind out of him. Once again the . lead changed hands with Young taking over. Kiedrowski wicked up the throttle and set after the new leader, and , soon after, Kiedrowski became the fourth differen t leader of the race. Once in second, Young found Matiasevich pressuring hard and soon surrendered his spot to Matiasevich. You ng's problems were n't over yet, however. He no w ha d Pascarella to contend with, and on the fina l lap, . Pascarella settled into th ird. . Kiedrowski took the checkered flag in the lead ahead of Ma tiasevich , Pascarell a, Chris You ng and Suzu kimounted J imm y Gaddis.
