In the main event Sheard got th e scratch ahead of Munyon, Christianse n, Bushell, Anderson, Roethle and Phelps. Once again, Munyon a nd Christiansen battled back and for th throughout th e entire race. On lap th ree th eir battle took both of them right pas t Sheard. Dickson dominates Perris MX By David Procida P ER RIS, CA, NOV . 21 Action in th e 250cc Novice clas s was at its best today at Perri s Raceway as each moto had a di fferent win ner. Will Dicksonernerged wi th theo vera ll victory wit h a 1-2 score. In mo to o ne Yamaha-mounted Dickson took the lead With the pack less than a bike length beh ind. As the riders sorted themselves o ut , Greg Erickson was working his way past riders and stayed on th e move until tryi ng to pass Kell y Chacon when he lost the front end in a rutted corner and went down. Back at the point position Dickson was now bei ng closely followed by Jason Williams a nd Gary Sherohman. A th ree-r ider dicefor founh wento n bet ween Randy Noriega, Ch acon, and Bru ce Kam is. A gro up of riders blast off t he li ne at t he Cal iforn ia Challenge M ini Road Race Se ries at Bakersfield . The trio of riders stayed together for three la ps until Sherohman lit the afterburner on his H onda and pulled awa y. Back up front William s was brea th ing down Dickson 's collar and shot to th e 'inside of a corner and too k the . lead. This was on ly temporary as Dickso n was back in to th e lead for good o n the next lap. As Dickson took th e win ahea d of William s, Sherohman put himself firml y into th ird ahead of Ch acon. In moto two Kam is surprised everyo ne by tak ing the win away fro m Dickson, who had to fend off charges fro m Will iams a nd Shero hma n . The top fo ur positions remained intact fro m th e mid waypoint to.the checkers and whe n the results were tallied, Dickso n took th e overa ll with a 12 score. Williams cap tured secondvia a 2·3 o uting while Kam is, wh o managed a fifth in rnoto one, too k third overall. In 250cc Intermediate action , Yam ah a-mou nt ed Pere BuggIe swa p ped rnoto wins with B.]. Millspa ugh. Millspaugh too k the overall by winning mo to two, wh ich was hotl y conte sted with BuggIe keeping the pr essure on at all times. Peter Vetrano took third overall with ' a 5-3 score . The OPen Intermedi ate cla ss win was a nother race that was decided in moto two as Brian Davy held off first rno to winner Robbie Lo vas. finished the race in first pl ace. In the second mo to Dani ell too k the holeshot and never looked back to finish first and na b th e overall win. In the Open Beginner Class Freddie Ch andler cruised h is Kawasaki to an easy first pl ace victory, after a bad spill by competitor Ken neth T aylor , wit h Chandler fin ishing first overall and T aylor a close second. In th e Combined Exper t class Yamaha-mounted Bria n McGra y bl asted out o f th e ga te for the holesho t in both rnotos an d dominated the track, J oe Billeiter held his ow n on hi s Kawasaki and had the poin ts to fin ish first overall. Ives and Freddie V'eteto had a photo finish in the first inoto with Ives winning by tread . In the second moto Ives finished first with Core y Westbrook a clo se second. In th e 250cc Intermediate clas s Wayne Daniell took the hol eshot in the first moto and led until engin e problems took him ou t o n the third la p , J eff Kni ght took ov er and McDonald masters Bakersfield Mini RR By Clark Emery BAKERSFIELD, CA, NOV. 22 Ri ding his first race of the SR E Ca lifornia Challe nge Mini Road Race Series, privateer Todd McDonald rode his stock Yamaha YSRSO to th e front of the Novice class in bo th motos [or the o vera ll win. George Pethound collec ted second overall by way of a 3-2 tall y ahead of thi rd place rider Mark McDo nald. . Action was fierce in the 0-149 Lightweight Modified Novice clas s as m in i motocross star J esse James jammed into the lead from earl y in th e race in both motos to take th e overa ll win. Gar y G reer foll owed acro ss the line for second overa ll honors with Ri ck Young netting third overall. The over 200 Heavyweight Stock Novice group was won by J effery F. Delon g, with Mik e Larson collec ting second. Fred Ross won the 200 Plus Stock Ex pe r t ra ce, J ami e Lewi s landed the Stock Expert trophy. In th e hotly -contest ed 150-159 Mediu mweight Modified Expert class, Vance & H ines-spo nsored Bob Reichmann too k charge of the lead on his MB5 Honda in both mo tos for the win. B&B Cycles rider Will Sorensen raced his VSR50 to second overall ahead of TomCat Fab /Vance & H in es-sponsored Tom Petrus on an MB5. Exotic 80cc Mini Road Racing action witnessed Steve Dryer winning th e 150-159 Mediumwei ght Stock Experts. Pirell ilTomCat Fab / Vance & Hines-sponsored David Lickle took his Kawasaki racer to th e Modified Expert win. T &O racer J ohn Lucien collected the Mod ified Novice victory and John Van Keeken netted the 200 Plus Modi fied Expert honors.
