Mike Jones won the 125,and 250cc
Supercross e"ent at the WQUT FM/

Pepsi/L&S Line Mfg.-sponsored
supercross, dirt track and 'IT'motorama at Kingsport The Pro classes
raced on Saturday night and Amateur classes on Sunday.
Jones was the only pro to take wins
in two classes. Mike Andrews holeshot the 125cc main and held the lead
while Jones charged through the
pack like a wild man. Robbie Neeley·
held second ahead of Robbie Taylor.
Jones moved to second only to fall,
but charged back and took the lead
with two laps left Once in the lead,
he easily collected the win. Andrews
held 0(( Randy Miller for second.
. Jones pulled the holeshot in the
250cc main and made no mistakes
as h~ took the win over Taylor and
Miller.
In the 250cc Dirt Track division
William Davis won.the qualifier over
Robbie Neeley and Richard Shipley,
but when the class left the line in
the main Davis was left on the line
with a stalled motor. Dayne Pierantoni took ,the lead wi th Nee!ey in tow,
but Davis got his bike going and
s,tarted a half lap down. Kirk Hayes
worked his way up from fourth and
took the lead with two laps remaining_ Tammy Kirk was. following
:Hayes through traffic and they finished in that order. Davis charged,
but ran out of time and finished
fourth.
Davis put his Harley out in front
and led every lap of his qualifier and
the main in the Open Dirt Track
class. Kirk took the other. qualifier,
but had problems in the main and
didn't fare as well. Davis left the line
in the main with Garth Brow in tow.
On the third lap Bart Schmulback
moved to second and when the
checkered flag fell, they were in the
same order.
