Greg Tysor won the Heavyweight Supersport Expert race. as well as collecting an additional second place and a pair of thirds . 16 rider as they came down the tri-oval, allowing both Jacks and Tysor to - power by. Jacks took the win, followed by Tysor, Ren tzell, Danny Walker, and Cam Roos. All rode Honda Hurricanes. " I made an early move. They were killing me on the banking but I caught 'em braking in the infield," said Rentzell. "On the banking they pulled high and I dropped low but a slower rider blocked me and by then it was too la te." Jimmy Adamo lost his 1986 AMA/ CCS Twins tit le but gained the Expert Formula Two number one plate with a win over John Long. T he Twins riders outclassed the GP250s in the combined competition. Long took an early lead on his 750cc Ducati with Greg Tysor, on a Hurricane, and Adamo following. Fighting for a distant fourth were Bill Blythe, Jonathan Cornwell, 1986 AMA/CCS F-2 champ Tunstall, and John France on a 250cc Honda. Adamo finally got around Tysor then began to close on Long. On the final lap, coming on the tri-oval portion of the speedway, Adamo moved .to the inside and won by a bike length. Following Adamo and Long were Tysor, Cornwell , and France. The Middleweight Supers port Expert race turned out to be not only on e of the weekend's best races but also the most controversial - the final outcom e is still undecided. Leading the first lap was Middleweight Superbike champ Jacks , closely followed by Tysor and Ricky Orland o. By.lap two, WERA Team Suzuki rider Thomas Stevens had moved into second on the banking after starting from the fifth row. _ Tysor ran a distant, yet lonely third; while Scott Russell passed Orlando for fourth , and Dann Walker ran sixth. Stevens and Jacks were turning in flawless rides . Stevens took the lead - by outbraking Jacks in the infielii, and Jacks retook the point posiiion on the banking: Stevens, at times, would move around Jacks coming out of the banking, but would lose the lead to Jacks before they entered the chicane. On lap five the order read Stevens, Jacks, Russell , T ysor and Orlando. . Co Stevens led through turn five, into turn six and up onto the banking on the white flag lap, but halfway down the back straight Jacks caught and passed Stevens and held on to win. Following J acks and Stevens were Tysor, Orlando, and Scott Russell. "I could have pushed it harder if I had wanted to, but I didn' t want to take a chance cras hing," said J acks. "He could get me on braking. My bike felt a little squirrely some times under hard braking-, When we were coming down off the banking it was like a couple of jets flying in formation. " r "I passed him three times in the horseshoe," said Stevens. "I started way back and knew I had to get a good start because I knew if I didn't he would be gone. I knew I couldn't set him up because I couldn't even stay in his draft. " Stevens filed a written protest, alleging an illegal motor in Jack's motorcycle. " I want to see what makes his bike so fast," said Stevens. "Plus, it's $800 difference with the win." One thing that Mitch Marqui (Jacks' tuner), Jacks, and Stevens were able to agree on was that AMA/ CCS officials conducting the teardown and protest had neither the knowledge nor the tools needed to determine the lega lity of the motor. O fficials were able to determine the bore and stroke of the engine ...,... it was lega l. Since they were unable to determine if the heads were legal, officials decided to send the engine to Honda for a final determination. The AMA is expected to make a decision on Monday, November 9. • Results L/W S/BK COMB : t . Brad Lowe (Yam); 2. John .Lowman (Vam); 3. Mike Smith (Hon); 4. David Brian Murray (Vam); 5.
