Genesis Racing finished third aboard a Yamaha. but dropped out d uring the sixth hour. I The Mi ddle weight P rod u ction class sta rted o ut to be a battl e between Team Metz and PDQ Racing, but PD Q experienced problems in hour three and dropped back two laps. P DQ 's Po in dex ter , McCabe and Cl ine started making up time, but couldn't q u ite catch Team Metz, finishing one lap do wn. Team Metz's Metz and Lowder won the class wi th 220 laps and finished ninth overall. Team Suzuki pitted in the sixth hour to put rider R ussell Paulk on th e bike. Paulk apparently lost no sleep the night before and im mediately go t his lap times to l:54 s and 1:55s despite th e team's four-lap lead. Paulk was obviously comfor tab le with this pace as he powered the Superb ike around the bum py track smooth ly a nd consistently. The Suzuki's quick change tire a n d brake sys tem wo r ked to a n advantage for Team Suzuki as they lo st no time in the p its with' tire and brake pad changes during the race. Genesis and Solmax Ra cing's tire changes were pretty impressive with th em changing fro nt and rear in less than four minutes with th eir co mpl etely stock m toorcycles. The Lightweigh ts were in a race of th eir own with Dirty Wh ite Boys, Team Bark and FBI battlin g for the to p spot. FBI riders Ma th is and Copeland jumped out fro nt early in the race on th eir Kaw asak i EX500, but d ue to tire prob lems and pitting for tir e changes had to settle for th ird in class behind Dirt y White BGY and s Team Bar k. All three bikes were within two laps of each other. Dirt y White Boys co mp leted 214 lap s and finish ed 16th overa ll. Lig htw eig h t series regulars R oyal e Racing experienced problem s early in th e race and had to replace a pis ton. They even tually finished 38th overall. Pa u lk pi tted th e T eam Suzuki entry with 45 minutes left in th e race and turned it over to Stevens. Stevens piloted th e bike to th e checkers , winning by four la ps. T eam Scream finished seco nd behind Suzuki wit h 233 lap s a nd Genesis Racing finis hed third one lap down on T eam Scream. " We came out here to ra ce our own race and finish up good, " said Team Suzuki's Ulrich. Team Suzuki experienced no problems th ro ugh out the race and remai n in th e overall series : poi nts lead. • "THE BEST IN THE END" • Scott Parker riding his Fadory Harley-Davidson equipped with a Bill WernerjSUPERTRAPP designed exhaustsystem won the October 3rd Mile at Sacramento.
