Qu.alls wisely let it go and stepped off the back, tumbled for a few seconds but came up all right and was back on the bike. But it was too late since Barbacovi had shot past and was out of reach. Barbacovi went on for the mota one win and Qualls took second. The start of moto two was a dead heat going into turn one. Barbacov-i carne out with a slight edge over Qualls. Williams, Barrow dominate Hartford ST By Karen Lewis HARTFORD, KY, SEPT. 12 Denne Williams and Joel Barrow cleaned house lOnight at Hartford's high bank shon track. Good racing was watched by a packed grandstand at the WKCRA event. Williams grabbed the holeshot in the 250cc class and after haking John Lewis took an easy win. Scott Clark rode to third. David Flowers, Charles Southgate, John Clark and Jeff Kluge chased Williams around the first lap of the Open final. A lot of different lines were tried but the order read the same at the finish. Barrow grabbed the lead in the 200cc main and crui ed in for the win ahead oE Jimmy Allen and Mike Voss. Barrow went to the from of the BOc!; class with T.]. Burnette and Tommy Hayden in tow. At the halfway flags Hayden fell down and was out of the fray. Barrow rode on for the win over Burnette, Chris Boone and Matt Gray. Burnette controlled the 125cc class with Barrow on his rear wheel. Coming down to the final lap Burnette slid down and Barrow was there to take the win. Eddie Reagor moved up to second Robbie Grief and Chuck Allen trailing. Aaron Ladd and Hayden led the 65cc pack before Ladd slid down and Hayden hit him, bringing out ·the red flag with thre.e laps completed. On the single file restart polesitter Jon Camp killed his motor and Joshua Knott led the lap around. By the next circuit Hayden and Ladd had worked back up to the front and Hayden took the close win. Jarrod Barrow got by Knott for third with Nick Hayden and Chris Boone following. CUBA, NY, SEPT. 13 Premier rider Mike Komer came equipped with his magic traction tire and dropped only 76 points for the day to win the Annual Mud Bog Trials at Cuba. Rain saturated ground made sections accordingly difficult and blasted the loop into a quagmire. Excellent use of the . swollen creek and muddy side hills allowed everyone at least one chance to clean off their tires and bike. While most riders were struggling with their mud choked bikes for threes and fives in section seven, Komer seemed lo just ride through it. This section threaded its way up a gentle gully, and after crossing a small angled and suspended log riders had to negotiate an off camber knoll with exposed tree roots. Then came the killer, a benign looking uphill slope stopped everyone's forward motion and forced most riders to start paddling. Afterwards Mike commented, "An interesting trials, it was the most physically demanding event we've had this year. The sections were unique, I used different lines in sections as the day progressed." Advanced rider George Brirtkwart collected another first place wi th 144 points. Raymond Peters won the Intermediate clas which will move him into the Advanced class. Peters has been advancing steadily since starting the year in the Novice class. Bob Schrader took first place in the Senior A class. Senior B rider Ron Bors bested a large turnout in this class by dropping only 23 points. ovice rider Voss Fernandes did some "feet up" riding lo secure first place and collected only 15 points for the day. Excellent wet weather riding skills paid off as Voss was able to keep consistent low scores in all the sections. Afterwards Voss said, "It was a great trials, my new bike really helped me. JOHN'S, PA, SEPT. 13 Danny Nenstiel captured the overall victory at the fifth and final hare scrambles at High Mountain today. The 10 mile ttack was at it's toughest due to heavy rains throughout the week. Slippery rocks and large mud holes took its toll on many of the ri4ers forcing them out of the race after only two laps. At the start of the Expen class 125cc Honda rider Rick Barlik got the holeshot and kept the lead into the woods. 8arlik was followed by 250cc Honda riders, Bary Dunkleberger and Nenstiel, leaving three time High Mountain winner, Brian Blanchard trailin~ the pack into the woods. Open Expert Frei took' sixth overall and first in his class. Barlik took seventh overall and first in the 125cc Expert class. Open Amateur rider AI Buchholz took his fifth win today at High Mountain.
