While Martin was running second he started jumping a set of jumps that were not meant to be doubles. He nailed them lap after lap, proving this might be the edge he needed to beat McCabe in the second moto. Moto two started just like the first, except Martin was close behind McCabe when they approached the tree line jump section. McCabe shut down for the double while Martin upshifted to fourth and made a spectacular pass. McCabe got right behind Martin's bike and again, his conditioning paid of£. About halfway through the molO, McCabe motored by Martin to take a double moto win over the former Japanese National Champion. Seidel again finished third, .giving him a third overall for the day. Moto one of the SOcc Minis bro'ught a race that had three lead changes with all three riders on different. brand machines. Jason Sybert, aboard a Honda, was out front with Wayne Wilkie on. a Kawasaki chasing him. Tony Haynes and Mall Smith, both on Yamahas, raced hard to stay behind. Sybert slipped down on the big tabletop letting all three of the next riders pass. With Wilkie in the lead, Haynes started to reel him in. Wilkie stalled his motor, letting Haynes run for the checkered flag, leaving Sybert, Willie and Smith finishi~g second, third, and fourth. Second molO action had Sybert pull the holeshot again. Haynes got right behind Sybert with Wilkie following close beh~nd in third. Haynes' experience on the demanding Desoto track worked in his favor as he passed Sybert on the roughest section of the track. Haynes took a double moto win with Sybert second and Wilkie third.
