I i ~i ~ Indiana's Steve Tracy finished second in the Funny Bike class. lhe semi, chose the left lane, knowing from previous runs that it was Schultz's favorite. Schultz drew red at lhe start, and Bryce came close to' the color himself, cutting an unbelievable light at .3l7 of a second. The run gave Bryce his first-ever IDBA Pro Stock win wilh an 8.372/l57.61. Schultz finished with an 8.824/l51.77, but lhe clocking was meaningless. Despite Bryce's upset victories in the semi and lhe final, Keyte held onto lhe IDBA Pro Stock point lead and Schultz remained in second place; Bryce moved into third. Kawasaki-mounted Huntz took an upset win over hotshot Neal Lane in round one action of the Pro Comp division, eliminating Lane for the day. Soulh Carolina's Lane - who won three of the four IDBA Nationals he has entered lhis season, and who was fast quallfier at lhree of those meets - was flrst out of lhe hole with the best light, but Huntz caught him and passed him, crossing lhe finish line first. Bennett and Drake followed in lhe second semi, and bolh fired out of the hole with lightening-quick . reactions. Reponed mechanical diHicul ties forced Drake to back o££ near the end of his run, and Bennett zipped across the finish line and into lhe final wilh anolher seven-second run (7.9641168.22). Bennett, who had been in an IDBA final only once this season, faced oH against Huntz, who had not made it into a final this year, during lhe last Pro Comp race of the day.
