By lap six, Hawthorne had moved by Hudson and had set his sights on the leading duo of Richardson and Langford. The second moto saw Upshaw once again run away from the pack, with Mike Stahlman second and Honeshell third. At the stan of the 250cc Intermediate class, the man picked to win it all, "Bullet Ben" Theriot, went down in turn one.
