Ron Soule (KTM); 3. Ray Peger (S'uz). 'Titles taken at Indiana He' By Paul Hayes MIDDLEBURY, IN, SEPT. 6 There were nine titles up for grabs at the Indiana State Championship Hillclimb. The host club for this year's event was the Iron Horsemen M.e. from Goshen. To qualify into this year's program, competitors had to ride three previous D-15 hillclimbs and be a D-15 member. The first rider to collect a win was Jason Northrup with a 5.390 second Iirst run. He took the win in the Junior Mini class over Jeff Daniels. Jason Petty claimed the Senior Mini class. His second climb of 5.417 proved to be the fastest. Greg Thompson used his first run of 5.437 on a Kawasaki to finish second. In the l25cc' class, John Colbert used a 5.332 first climb on a Kawasaki to win the title. Honda-mounted Mark S.chroeder came close in the first round but with a 5.356 he had to settle (or second. The 1986 National number one 200cc class rider Tim Weaver claimed the 1987 200cc. Indiana State title.. Weaver, sponsored by Diamond Chain and Greenwood Honda, only rode once and stopped the clo~k at 4.757 seconds. Sam Blakeney, riding with a sore knee (rom a previous h.illclimb accident, may have been limping off the bike but once on it the injury was forgotten. Blakeney sponsored by Pro Tech, turned a 4.962 (or the runner-up slot. Both riders were Kawasaki mounted. The 250cc chiss was won by Kelly Senn. Hi's (irst time would have made Senn the winner but he opted to better his time in the second round and turned a 44.696 run. Mikel , Bonomo finished second wtih a final climb of 4.845. The 400cc class title went to Aaron Brown who shot over in 4.441 during the first round to claim the overall. Kaleb'Northrup .was a 'couple of ticks off with a final attempt of 4.469.
