Mercedes Gonzalez won her second Women 's title in a row with a three heat sweep. Perennial frontrunner Lisa Akin Wagner suffered a mot o o ne injury and bow ed o u t gr acefully, allowing Tara Harrison and Dee Wo od a clean sho t at top three Nati onal numbers. Open B Champion Craig Dav is also placed ones across the bo ard to bag his class title. T he California Yamaha pi lot was fo llowed acro ss the line by Oklahoma 's La nce Nor ick (4-2-4) a nd North Ca roli na 's Bill F in ch (5-3 -3). Ma r c P et er s a n d Timothy Huffman went 4-5. Bu t in th e end it was Matiasevich's 6-2-2 co unt th at put him into th e wi n ner's circl e a head of New York 's Chris Coleman (2-73) and Honda-mounted Mike Pascarella (3-4-5). Kiedrowski a nd Wa shin g to n 's Larry Ward gave Ma tiasevich a ll he wa nt ed in th e 250's Pro -Am mo tos, but eac h time th e Ka wasaki p ilo t was more than rea dy to meet th e cha llen ge.
