The R ib Mountain Riders closed out

Marathon Park, in downtown Wausa u, and provided the 90 riders o n

track has seen in years.
Cliff Eckes j r. and j oe Bentfield
sho t to the front of the 2S0cc class
fin al and bat tled for four laps. In lap
five, Eckes dropped off th e pace an d
Bret Beyer, wh o had a horrend ous
start, moved into second. As Bentfield en joyed a co mfo rtable lead at
th e start of the white flag lap, Beyer
refused to give up and contin ued his
amazing charge to the front. As th e
distan t twosome entered tum three
on the last lap, Beyer got a n unbelievable driv e and bla sted past Bentfield to claim a well-deserved win.
Eckes held on to finis h third.
Steve Kasten , Mark Mu th , an d
Peter H ook grabbed the top three
spots at th e start of the 600cc Amateur
class and easily pulled away fro m the
rest of the pac k. T he obv ious presence of rocks prevented Muth or
H ook from making any mov es o n
Kasten , as Kaste n scored a n uncon tested win.
Dave Du r elle, riding a 600cc
Wood-Rotax , was clearly the class of
th e 7S0cc Pro-Am field as he o vercame a mediocre start to pu ll away
to a comfortable win. Mar ty Bush -:

Wagenknecht cha rged fro m a p oor
