T he best th e riders ca n hope for in

Spee dway is to tak e home th e money
in bo th the 'Division One and Han-

Warren Diem did for the second time
th is season a t Action Pa rk Ea st
Speedway.
. ,
Diem has his sigh ts sets on the East
.Coast record of 10 straight Di vision
O ne Scratch main even t wins, currently h eld by H an k Bassett. Bassett,
n ow retired, has been setting up
Diem 's motors to do the job.
D iem had no problem in h is
qualifying hea t, as he finished ahead
of Mike Buman with the two ride rs
making the semi transfer. The first
semi had Joh n Lewis leading th e
circu it for four laps. Colorado 's
Lance Darsow appeared headed for
the main but Tom Burge swooped
by him down the back straight on
the white £lag lap to pick up the
transfer. Diem controlled the second
semi off the inside posi tion as George
Lazor drafted Diem for four la ps to
toss h is hat into the main event rin g .
as well.
The first lap of the main event saw
Diem and Lazor embroiled in their
usual tigh t race with the n ormal
bu m p in g and grinding .that occurs.
Lazor went down and Lewis ra n into
Lazor. O n the tigh t tra ck at Actio n
Park the red £lag had to co me out
wi th the two ri ders down. Lazor
r eturned fo r th e resta rt o n the
borrowed machine of Mark Edwards'
but had to start o rr th e 10 yard lin e.
Diem was off and runni ng on h is
Keech Video/ Diem's Cycle G odden.
H e stormed to the win a head of Tom
Bu rge, Lewis and Lazor.
Andy Del im a t and Joel Mo nell
were both having a great n ight. Ea ch
won their respective Handicap heats.
Monell went on to make his first
appearance in the main event as h e
led wire-to-wire in his sem i final.
Delimat wa s stro n g for four laps in
the semi but it was only a matter of
time until Diem ca ugh t him and
took the lead. The stron g showin g
sent Delima t into th e main even t
with Diem an d J ohn Lewis:
In th e m ain, Delimat held th e lead
for two laps as th e ba ck ya rdage
rid er s were working th eir way up to
the front. T om Burge took th e lead
o n lap three with Delimat seco nd and
Diem in third. Diem picked off
Delimat o n lap four. During lap five
Diem mad e hi s -pass on Burge. In
Diem 's attempt to pass Burge it
appeared th at h e bumped Burge off
his line in order to get by on the
inside. After th e referee 's decision on
th e in cid ent th e finishing order stood
as Diem, Burge, Lewis, Delimat,
.
Monell a nd Buman.
Andy Delimat not o n ly had a good
run in th e H andicap events but
dominated Divi sion Two.
