Woolridge tops at Frozen Ocean MX By Dave Denman AUBURN, NY, J U N E 21 Suzuki rider Jim Woolridge dominated the I25cc Expert class at Fro zen O cean Motocross Park with two hol esho ts and impressive lap times. In the firs t moto Wool ridge and Paul Aus tin led th e co m pe ti tive 125cc Expert class around the first tum. Woolridge needed a bout two laps to bui ld an eigh t-seco nd lead and steadily wo rked his way to a 15second win. T he real action was taki ng pl ace m idpack wi th Pro-Am rider Ri ck Pinney, Tim Brill and Bill Denman smoking from near last to fifth, sixth and seventh. Pau l Aus tin, Mike Dries and Brian Austin used their good starts to p lace second, th ird a nd fourt h. T he seco n d mo to Tim Brill rounded the first turn beh ind Wool ridge and took on th e task of trying to Tun h is pace. The two soo n o u tdi stan ced th e pack wi th th e fastest lap times of the da y. Brill 's challe nge faded o n the last three la p s as Wool rid ge upped th e pace. Mik e Dri e' s consistent 3-3 motos earned him seco nd , Bri ll fini sh ed third overa ll and Pinney fourth. Mike Dries, a - first year Expert rider, used a perfect sta rt to captu re th e first 250cc Expert mo to win . T ed nt onucci and Brian Aus tin kept pressure on Dries but as the moto rogressed, so did Dries' co nfidence, roy Bradshaw worked th ro ugh the pack to take the fourth position. Moto two started with Dries fa lli ng on the first tum and Brian Au stin , Antonucci and Peter Phillips bein g the ea rly leaders. Mark Busch er worked by Phill ips and Antonucci to place second. Knuth chased, but had to settle into a second pl ace finish ahead of Schmulbach . Sch mu lbach came back to battle wit h Danny Carter [or top hon or s in the 250cc fin al. Jones AUBU RN , CA, JUNE 27 Eddie Ingels jammed to hi s first handi cap main even t win and number o ne Bart Bast blasted to hi s first scratch main event win at Gold Country Speedway in Auburn. Ingels. sponsored by A & A Racing/ Hi Point , brought two rebuilt bikes to 'Auburn after losing both - Damon Bradshaw sailed his Yamaha to a double-moto sweep in the 125cc B class at Lake Sugar Tree MX in Axton. Virginia. bikes a t Napa last week. He used a fast ga te from th e 50-yard line to get ahead of Bast and J im Sisemore before catching th e rest of the pack at the start of the handicap main. By th e m iddl e of turn one, Ingels had blasted past Steve Martin and Greg Martz. Riding on the inside of Rock y Robinson, In gels moved into th ird before the end of the first lap. Wi th Ingels in p urs uit of J oe Leduc and Dave Coupe, Bast a nd Sisem ore followed throu gh the pack. Sisemore had fina lly in ch ed past Bast with bo th sti ll chasing Ingels. For the next four la p s Ingels, Sisemore and Bast raced [or th e ch eckered . Rob inson wa s a bike len gth behind but co uld not hook up in th e o u tside groove to get any closer. Ingels was successfu l in holdin goff second p lace Sise more and third place Bast. Steve Crawford was o u t first [rom ga te o ne in th e scra tch main, but Bart Bast, backed by Sierra Products/ Bast Weldin g, used his experience to ge t inside a nd ease into th e lead co m ing o ut of turn two. Shane Temp leto n reco vered [ro m a midpack sta rt to slip into th ird at th e halfway poi n t, Kendrick cruised in [or the win as Marshall slowed o n th e last la p and dropped to fourth with mechani cal prob lem s. T empleton took second over Troy Brewer and Mar sh all wit h Bill y Reel fifth . . Wh ile Andrews jumped off and started p ushi ng his bike Spriggle skipped past and took the wi n [ro m Andrews only a few bik e length s [rom the flag, Andrews took h is hardearned second and then collapsed from exha ustion whi le Mike Ryan roll ed in for th ird over Mike H arri s and Timmy Wal ker.
