In th e end. it was Munson prevail in g for a I-I sweep of th e class to beat Ha rt (22) a nd Beyer (3-3). In the same event, Wes Ha nsen demolis hed the second O pen Int erm ediate moto to bump first moto wi n ner Mike Bur ke to second o verall ahea d of Da vid H ampton. Hart hoo ked up well enough to lead a charge into turn one after th e drop of the gate in th e' first 125cc Pro moto. H art didn 't hav e th in gs easy as local dominators Beyer a nd Ken ny Olsen pressured Hart for th e lead. Hart event ua lly broke free from traffi c and took th e moto one win. T he second tim e out was mu ch th e sa me - H art hau led int o th e lead a nd held off O lsen , Beyer and Trevor Portn er for a I-I win . O ne of th e da y's best races was in the 250cc Intermedia te class. Graves was making a rare a ppea ra nce a t the facilities a nd decided to make a tota l rout of both motos afte r ea rl ier devastating both 125cc Interm edi ate rnotos. Graves pushed hi s Roseburg Ho nda-su ppor ted CR to th e head of a large pack of rid ers, and sho wed all o n hand that he hadn 't lost hi s speed. Graves navi gated hi s 'trusty moun t to I-I wins o ver Dana Anderson, Larry Keu bler, Ed J ens en and David Browning. all aboard Hondas. Yam aha jockey Mike West went wild in the 125cc Junior class and won both motos, It was th e second win in as many races for th e rid er that moved back down to th e junior ranks. West rode well , despite bein g down on power and sus pe nsio n with hi s an cient Yamaha YZ. Second to West was J o hn Griffin, wh o logged 2.-2 rid es to bea t J oe Casey (1-3), Travis Markell (6-5) and Marc Sorenso n (5-6). J ason McCor m ick ra n away with two classes, win ning th e 60cc and 80cc Intermediat e classes. In 60cc ac tio n, McCormick beat Eric Burk in shaw J r. and Na te Gravell e. Washington, made it three-for-three at Owyhee M.C. 's 32nd Annual 11 Weekend Outdoor Sho rt Track. Davis swept the victories in 125, 250cc, and Open Expert mains and was seemingly untouchable to hi s com pe tition. . In th e Open Expert main, Davis read the green light perfectly, sweeping into the Iirst turn from the o u tside a hea d o f Rod Reyn ol ds, Duan e Gerrard, Don Wil son. Chad Wayment, a nd th e rest , including Kell y Larkin. Kit Farl ey, J oel H uskey a nd Mike McDonnell. Wh il e Wood-Rotax -m ounted Davis pulled away, Gerrard wrestled second fro m Reynolds. Farl ey a pplied hea vy pressure on Huskey, but Hu sk ey ga ve no qu arter a s he pursu ed Reyno lds. Good 's wins ex te n de d hi s Ala sk a Motorcycle Racin g Association 1987 win streak. Good rode flaw less races. except for a fall in moto one of the 125cc Expert class. Ka wa sa ki of Anchorage-backed Jason And erso n took adva n tage of th e spill to win the moto. Good remounted in midpack, but by th e mot o's end he had worked up to second. Third went to Anderson 's Ka wasa ki of Anchorage teammate Lance Len eave, . The second mo to belonged to Good, wh o led from start-to-finish. And erson and Leneave had a grea t di ce for third and event ua lly worked thei r way up to second. The checkered flag fell wi th And erson fin ishing ahead of Leneave ill second. T he P ro class first moto a lso belong ed to Good. The whooped-out sand track took its toll on everyone, but Good never tired a nd seemed to get stro nge r eac h la p.
