In fo u rth pla ce Ch arlie Co leman d id what h e co u ld to keep Kingsley in fift h. O n lap three Co leman conceeded to Kingsley b ut stayed close. Ou t fro nt, Drake opened some space be twee n Westfall a nd him self. By lap six, Kin gsley was breathing dow n Alarie's back , but th en Al arie p a ssed Wes tfa ll w h i le Kin g s ley watch ed. The top three pulled o u t a sli ght lead, while Drake began to charge ahead. On lap four, he had fou rt h in th e bag, Alari e dropped out of th e race and soo n Westf all could hear Dra ke knocking at th e back door. At th e finish, Kingsley took th e overa ll win with Col eman traili ng behind in second. Westf all edged Dra ke a t th e wire with less tha n a bike length separating th em. In th e Open Amateur clas s, Bob ' Scranton took th e holesh ot with th e thundering horde givin g ch a se. Second place saw three d iff er en t riders during the moto wi th Mike Wi lkins ho lding it for four laps a nd then giving in to Ph il Dilm ore. On the last la p Tim Lariviere claim ed the number two spot. eco nd moto found J oe Zim ecki leading cra ni o n with o n ly ab out seven feet ever coming between th em from start to finish. Larry Loudis took a fourth and fifth to end up third overall. After a !w~ year layoff, Tom Cerciell o didn t look as though he forgot ho w to rid e, as he led the firs t eight laps wi th Majeski searchi ng for a hole. Fi na lly Maj eski snuck by o n lap nine a nd he ld on for the win. Cer ciello had consola tio n in th e fact that he won the 250cc A final aft er a hard- fought ba tt le with Georgie Price. Dave Duhaine held off Pa u l Crum li ng on his Pro Pla tes Honda, while Virginia's J erem y Lucy rou nded o ut the top five. Roy Collings co ntinued his win streak in the 500cc B fina ls.
