Schulbach smokes 'em at Pekin ST By Bill Holt PEKIN , IL , MAY 3 Ban Schmulbach blasted his Bach Shop Hondas to a win and a second in the 250 and 500cc classes, respectively , at the Pekin M.C.-hosted, DC Cycle /S uper Seer/Banzai Bro s.» sponsored fourth round of the AMA Dis trict 17 Championshi p Dirt Track Series. Rand Smi th led o££ the program taking the win over Shannon Wright and the rest of the Pee Wee class. Righ t on their heels came the battle of the Minis between Steve Hall and Dann y Dotson. The battle cam e to a quick halt 200 feet from the checkers when Hall took a trip o££ the track in turn four and Dotson cruised in for the win. From the green to the chec kers Scott H u££ and the Grayboy/Gardene r Honda led Dave Stanfield and the rest of the 125cc class. T he 12rider fina l in the 250cc class kept the fans o££ their seats watching Schrnulbach, Rob Collins and Ste. wart Wright dice for the lead and fini sh in that order. T he 500cc final was a ful1 house, match ing heat winners Kevin Seivers and Bob Bu££ing ton against the rest of the pack. Wymond Schleyhahn grabbed the holeshot and kept the pack at bay for three la ps. Buffington slipped by for the lead on the fourth la p fol1owed by Schmulbach and the Ro tax of Rick Knuth on the fifth. Schmulbach and Knuth hounded Buffington for the duration, but the order didn't change. Les Eslinger and the Libertyvi l1e Yamaha made up for their poor showing in the heat and came back for a convincing wi n in the Senior class main over George Collins and Dave Stanfield.
