The harder he tried the further ahead Brown and his Yamaha forged. From the back of the pack came the hard-charging Moore on his CarmeI.based Honda. Late in the event Moore shot underneilth . Johnson coming out of turn two and had him by the entrance of turn three. In the three remaining laps of the event Moore did close the gap by a considerable amount but ran out of time and laps to catch Brown: Johnson was able to calm down and eliminate his mistakes to earn third place. In other class action, Gary Vincelet wowed the fans with a light-to-flag win in the 500cc Junior final. Highly successful Junior Steve Stewart couldn't seem to get sorted out in this first event.
