Brown downs field
in Monterey ST
By Mike Vancil
MONTEREY, CA, MAR. 28
A fantastic performance by Ron
Brown on his well prepped Brown's
Yamaha-sponsored TT matched the
well-groomed 118th-mile Monterey
Fairgrounds oval and the festivities
of the inaugural event for the 1987
season event.
Brown won his heat 'by a considerable margin, but had no rest in the
final. The start was marred by
penalties to Danny Moore and David
Woodward as they were caught over
the start line. At the green light the
battle resumed between Brown and
Johnson, whom he had beaten by
a fair margin in the heat race. By
the time the pack entered turn three
Brown had command of the race.
For the entire distance Craig
Johnson fought to keep pace on his
