Ragan ran ;lway with the 200cc final then backed that up with a win in the Open class main. The night started for Ragan with a holeshot in the 200cc final. He immediately opened up a lead that couldn't be touched. Denne Williams held onto second by holding a hard charging Joel Barrow off the entire eight laps. Monte Starks, Bret Gals and Jimmy Allen followed the trio. When the 12 rider Open class final hit the backstretch, it was once again Ragan in the lead. Williams jockeyed into second with Dallas Mayer, Tommy Register, Todd Booten and Sou thgate trailing. SeveraI different Iines were tried, but the positions remained the same at the checkered. Williams carried the flag the 250cc class with a flag-to-flag ride_ He held a large margin of victory at the line. David Lamb held second initially before being dropped back to third by John Lewis. Eddie Reagor ran and hid en-route to the l25cc victory. Bart Schmulbach was second all the way, while Joel Barrow had to work past Bruce Fiser and Robbie Grief for third. Brown downs field in Monterey ST By Mike Vancil MONTEREY, CA, MAR. 28 A fantastic performance by Ron Brown on his well prepped Brown's Yamaha-sponsored TT matched the well-groomed 118th-mile Monterey Fairgrounds oval and the festivities of the inaugural event for the 1987 season event. Brown won his heat 'by a considerable margin, but had no rest in the final. The start was marred by penalties to Danny Moore and David Woodward as they were caught over the start line. At the green light the battle resumed between Brown and Johnson, whom he had beaten by a fair margin in the heat race. By the time the pack entered turn three Brown had command of the race.
