------------- 80lmeier wins Mickey ThompsonMX By Tom Schmidt INDIANAPOLIS, IN, MAR. 29 Held as an added attraction to the Mickey Thompson O££-Road Grand Prix an indoor 250ce motocross race was ('ut on the program for the Hooslerdome race. The course consisted of most of the regular carl truck/ATV course with a few double' jumps and switchbacks thrown in for good measure. Dennis Stephenson broke into an early lead, followed by Kenny BolImeier. Shaun Kalos, who started at the back of the field, came up through the pack to take over second [rom 'Bollmeir on the fourth lap. Kalos was working on Stephensen throughout the moto until the last lap, when the two tangled with each other at the center switchback/double jump. With the first and second place riders on the ground, Bollmeier, who was running in third, passed both riders while they righted their bikes. Bollmeier rode on to victory, Stephensen salvaged a second and Dale Spangler ~ot past Kalos before he could get gomg [or third. Results 1. Kenny Bollmeier (Vam); 2. Dennis Stephensen (Kaw); 3. Marshall 'captures Midway MX win By Susan Willian MITCHELL, IN, MAR. 29 Midway Motocross had its first event o[ the season, Sunday, and heading the day's racing was Kawasaki rider Rod Marshall in the 125cc A class. At the start of the first moto, Marshall jammed into _the lead followed by Bill Sweeney', Mark Sweeney and Derrick Roe. Roe moved into the third slot and then slipped by Bill Sweeney to take over second. By lap three, Roe started closing the gap on Marshall. On the next go-around, Roe had inched his way closer to the front spot and breathed heavily down Marshall's back. But Marshall kept his cool and blocked Roe's aggressive moves until the final lap. That's when Roesnuck by on the inside of Marshall and into . the lead for the win. Marshall again charged to the front of the pack at the start of the second moto but was closely followed by· Roe. During the first lap, the leaders traded positions with Roe taking over me lead ahead of Bill Sweeney and Marshal1. Sweeney, however, ran oft the track giving second place to Marshall. Halfway through the moto while cruising out in front, Roe came to a sudden stop with mechanical problems. Marshall then resumed the lead and took the moto win for the overall.
