Gray turned a 1:28.4 on the fourth lap and was slowing down with the race now in hand; he had turned a 1:27.52 on the second lap. "I just quit after I saw the board that said I had 10 seconds on them on the fourth lap," Gray said later. By the sixth lap, Domay had joined the Steward/Emde battle for third with Vreeke and Adams fighting it out behind them. By the eighth lap, the hard-charging Domay had pul1ed clear of Emde and Steward. At the flag it was Gray by a mile, with Roloff a comfortable second followed by Domay, Steward and Emde. Roloff's second place carne on the Kawasaki Ninja, nicknamed "The Terminator", that he rode to the title last year. It was the bike's final race as Roloff recently took delivery of a Yamaha FZRIOOO on which he will contest the rest of the series. "Things went pretty good ·for the Terminator's last ride," Roloff said. "I got the Yamaha two nights ago and there's plenty to do on it, but maybe we can reel-in Mr. Gray." The 24-year-old Domay was riding his new Suzuki GSXRllOO for the first time. The bike was stock except for the Yoshimura exhaust system, and carburetors. Domay didn't have the correct sized rims to use Michelin radials, and instead opted for biasply Michelins.
