David Reynolds won the 125cc Amateur class at Riverside Fr· Hayes hauls at Riverside FT By Loren and Barbara Williams AMERICA'S ONLY WEEKLY MOTORCYCLE ACTION TEL,EVISION SERIES... TRAVELERS REST, SC Kirk Hayes and a bunch of his IT buddies showed up on this halfway sloppy Saturday night to give everyone a go-fast exhibition at Riverside. In the 250cc Pro heat race, it was Tommy Cowan all the way, with Hayes and Tommy Sisson chasing, until the last lap when Hayes had bike troubles. For the feature, however, Hayes had evidently fixed the problem. Sisson got the jump on everyone and set a blistering pace, with Cowan and Hayes on his fender. Cowan and Sisson traded the lead a few times with Hayes, then Hayes streaked past them both and held onto the front spot for the rest of the race. An Amateur IT class was added this time. Phillip Caldwell took the lead early but had to take a back seat to Dayne Pierantoni and Randall Lance. Doug Jefferson was hot in the Novice action. Riding a new KX125, Jefferson won the l25cc Novice qualifier and came in a close second to Alan Sparks in the feature race, then took the honors in the 250cc Novice feature. Brother Jeff took the 250cc Novice holeshot but ended up fourth in the battle for position, behind Darryl Bollinger and Tony Bridges. Darryl's brother, Aaron, put on a exhibition ride, showing David Reynolds, who won the 125cc Amateurs, the best lines around the track. Chad Pitt had some bad luck at the start of the main, tangling bars with another rider in the first turn and ended up third behind Paul Dalton's ~ L fib KOOC·TV NATIONALLY (Hon). JR/MINI: 1.
