Pontius HORTONVILLE, IN, MAR. 22 Ohio's Mark Musselman cleaned up in both A classes and in the Dashfor-Cash at Knobby Hill's season opener, but Rod Marshall of Lebanon made him work for iL Chuck Reed took the holeshot to lead the first 125A moto, follow~ by Musselman, who quickly shoved his Honda past Mark Har~hman and into the second spot early in lap one. Suzuki-rider Chris Knox and Marshall, on a Kawasaki, moved into thud and fourth. At the halfway point, Musselman had trouble in the back section and dropped behind Marshall. Knox was pushing the leader when he stalled his bike in a tight corner, leaving Marshall and Musselman to duel for second. The 250A class offered little contest for Musselman, but there was dissension in the ranks as William Sweeney, Marc Safreed of Ohio, Dan Umbarger and Rick Witzke - all on Yamahas - jockeyed for positjon. Moto one saw a battle for second between Sweeney and Safreed. Safreed dropped to fifth for a lap, but came back strong to challenge Sweeney in a sjde-by-side dog fight through the doubles. Safreed regained second and finished well behind Musselman's first. Moto two was a near replay of moto one, when Safreed fell from second to fourth. He chased down Witzke, then assaulted secondrunner Umbarger for three laps before Umbarger bobbled in the turn before the finish line. Safreed flew by for another second place finish and second overall. It was deja vu in the Dash for Cash when Marshall and Safreed took back seats to Musselman's win.
