Riders are videotaped and reviewed the same day. Harden says it's easier for a student to see what he's doing wrong rather than being told. improve riding techniques. Harden's normal class schedule begins at 9:00 a.m., with an hourlong lec.ture about motorcycle preparation, safety equipment, and physical and mental traming. When he's finished with that, the actual riding part of the class begins. One of the most useful tools Harden uses to help riders develop better riding technique is a videotape camera. Every rider IS video recorded as he practices riding over certain types of obstacles or terrain; the ta~ is reviewed later in Harden's mobile home, usually around lunchtime. After lunch and plenty of discussion, Harden takes his class out for a cross-country loop, taking along his video camera. He stops at various sections. of each loops, such as downhills, sandwashes, off-cambers and rocky stream' sections, and videotapes each rider through each obstacle. This part of the instruction usually lasts up to a couple of hours, then the videos are reviewed again back at camp. Harden discusses each rider's technique and progress while watching the tapes. Harden said it's easier for a rider tq improve in weak areas by actually seeing what he's doing wrong rather than just being told. . Harden follows up the day's lessons with a short trail ride. The Harden Off-Road Riding Schools cost $100, which includes food and drinks, T-shirts and some sample products from Harden's sponsors: Malcolm Smith Racing Products, Acerbis Plastics, Smith Scot Harden is an accomplished off-road racer..
