Dunfee flies at Hidden Valley HS By Tom Tysl and Kat lawson SAN ANTONIO, TX., MAR. 15 Ron Dunfee piloted his Honda CR250R to the Pro class vic-' tory at the second round of the South Texas Hare Scramble Series. The race, sponsored by the Dirt Bikers Club of San Antonio, was held at the Hidden Valley Campgrounds and featured parts of an old motocross track, creek crossings, an abandoned house and a steep offcamber uphill. In the early going the contenders for the lead were Steve Brunelle and Dunfee, but Brunelle's Honda seized and that let Dunfee go on for the win virtually unchallenged. Steve Cardwell finished second to Dunfee and was also Honda mounted. The Expert class .featured a good battle for the top spot between Mark Lynch, Bryan Fox and Steve Kotara. This trio fought it out for seven laps of the 12-lap race. Fox was into the lead on lap seven, but went over the handlebars and ended up with his bike tangled in a bush. Kotara gladly took over the lead and came home with the victory with Lynch a close second. Yamaha-mounted William Henk had no trouble decimating the 80cc class, as he left the rest of the riders ' in his dust and took the win by five minutes over Jason Trott. -- The SweetSound ofVictory.
