second mow finishes, the final order was James, Leiker, and Wright. The 500cc Beginners and Novices ran together. DeWayne Ray wasfirst Beginner off the line and Dale Tittlemeier first Novice. That must have been a jinx because both riders slipped to third in their class by the end of the race with the Beginner win going to Troy Chase and the Novice moto falling to Tom Smith. Ron Gilbert, who finished second Novice in moto one, took the lead right o££ the line in moto two with Smith in hot pursuit. Not hot enough, apparently, since they finished that way also and the overall first 500cc Novice went to Gilbert. Ray went gate to £lag in moto two and earned the first overall 500cc Beginner spot. Jenkins jams at Yellow Jackets HS By Mark Krieger ULRICHSVILLE, OR, MAR. 15 Joel Jenkins pilo'ted his Maico to a convincing overall victory at the Yellow J<;lckets M.e. eRA Hare Scrambles in Ulrichsville. jenkins took the- lead on lap one and held the top spot for the rest of the race. Jenkins was feeling pressure from jim Kalleker, who spent the whole day in hot pursuit. Kalleker ended up with second, some eight minutes behind jenkins. Many of the course's hill climbs gave riders a lot of di££iculty during the event. The slippery surface conditions caused multiple-rider traHic jams that resulted in waiting lines to make attempts at climbing one hill.
