iece ·of the event, as nine Experts ,competed for cash prizes going.-tothe utop riders. Sunday morning saw the cnearly late arrival of David Pyle, hustling back from Las Vegas, where c.his job as Team Green coordinator ~had him for an amateur supercross. All eyes were on three-time National "champ $cott Head, mounted on the Beta TR34, as well as rising star Tom Hamann. Others in contention for the dash-for-cash, were John Robert-·. sop, Scott Annand and Bill Hunter. As expected, Head quickly took the lead position, where he ultimately finished with a low score of 13 points, 23 clean rides. A surprising second was the stoic Robertson aboard the latest Honda offering, the RTL250, with 30 points and 15 cleans, while Hamann cruised to an easy third, posting 52 points and 13 cleans, as at most trial events, Head put on quite a display of his mastery of the motorcycle with an exhibition that left no doubt as to his National ral1king. Jeff Dawn topped a growing Beginner class, as Del Harland devastated the Senior Beginners. Other class winners included Kevin Morris, Pete Euni~e, Thorn Englehardt, Gil Smith, Pete Croft and the ageless Art Webster. The Kid's class, for riders under 16-years, was dominated by jammin' Jim Collins. Cooper soars at Allen Ranch By Jenny Bayles TULSA, OK, MAR. 15 The Allen Ranch Spring Series in Tulsa saw Honda support rider Guy Cooper soar to success with perfect scores in the J25, 250, and 500cc Pro classes.. First-moto action in the 125cc Expert class saw Honda-mounted David Stout take the holeshot, only to get passed during the first lap by Cooper. Cooper soon'stretched his lead and was far beyond striking distance. Honda-mounted Rick Kirk motored past Stout and moved into second place. Cooper took an easy first place win with Kirk finishing second and Stout settling for third. Second-moto action saw Kawasaki rider Jason Owens steal the holeshot with Cooper close behind and Stout trailing. Kirk went down in the first comer, leaving hill! at the back of the pack. Cooper effortlessly glided past Owens and into the lead. Kirk motored from behind and managed to capture a hard-earned third place at the finish. Owens fell back to fourth, Honda-mounted John Gamer took second place and the tireless Cooper sailed to another . flaw less victory. The 250cc Pro class was much of the same story with Cooper constantly smoking, leaving his competitors behind in a trail of dust. The first moto saw Yamaha rider Doug Fellers get the holeshot, with Cooper', once again, capturing the lead early in the race. While Fellers and Kirk engaged in a battle for second place, Cooper continued to amaze the crowd with powering speed, and an overwhelnling lead. Fellers· maintained second and Kirk took third. ~ > z z w ..., ~ 5 :I: l1.
