If Moore emerged ahead, the big question was whether Polen's 'drive would enable him to draft past o~he front straight. It didn't happen - Moore won by a bike length and the pits erupted. The win had real significance for Moore and Vance & Hines Racing· because no one had yet beaten Polen in an 1100 race (when the Texan had stayed on two wheels) at Willow. But the win was especially sweet for Pirelli, and if Moore's success on the Demon tires is any indication, Michelin and Dunlop cquld have plenty of .company on the winner's podium this season. Moore collected $4000 for the day's work, $1500 for each Win, $750 for his runner-up in the 750 race and ·various other contingency awards. • Results unavailabl~ at press time.
