Hard on Hallgath's heels was Kirk
Kovaleff, who took the overall win
in the Amateur class on a 500 Honda.
Mark Zoller brought his KTM home.

Invaders M.e. not far behind.
Senior rider Richard Jackson,
riding a Husqvarna, took the honors
in his class in 16th overall.
"These guys made'me work too
hard," Jackson said. "I lost my front
brake which made it a bit hairy on
the fast sections. I overshot a few
turns - I've ev~n got bushes in my
goggles."
Kawas.aki-mounted Dave Kersting
took the win in the Senior 250
division, just ahead of So. Cal. M.C.'s
Ron Hall, who was riding a Suzuki.
First in the Vet class (17th overall)
went to Jim Eveland on a 250
Yamaha, who spent most of the race
battling it out with fellow Vet 250
racer, Scott Anderson (19th overall).
Red Austin of Desert M.e. took the
win in the Super Senior class (76th
overall), ahead of Husky-mounted
Jim Main of the Four Aces M.e. and
fellow Desert M.C. member Ed
Farrell.
The first Novice rider to cross the
finish line was C!:rris Hodges on a
510 Husky (67th overall). Hodges
rode most of the second loop on a
front Oat to take the win, narrowly
edging out the second Novice finisher,
Honda-mounted
Dave
Armstrong.
