I Kawasaki-mounted David Cotter dazzled the spectators with some magnificant riding at Albany Speedway. For the second race in a row, Cotter collected top brass in two classes, winning the Open B and Up The Hill events with clean I-I sweeps during Motocross Northwest-sanctioned Supercross. Twenty-one riders lined'up for the 125cc C class first moto. Honda pilots Joe Rushing and Jeremy Skokam put their machines at the front of the pack with Yamaha rider Terry Davis in third. Rushing had a good thing going up front which took him to the checkered flag for the win. Skokam nabbed second ahead of Davis, Mike West and Rob Spring. Honda pilot Spring shot into the lead in moto two and did a sensational job of holding off Davis. Davis continuously attacked Springs lead, but each time, Spring would slam the door shut. Davis and Spring continued to battle for the lead while Skokam, Rushing and Cagivamounted Eric Law dueled for third. Spring held off Davis for the win in the moto, but Davis consistency paid off for a 3-2 win. Second was Skokam (2-3) and Rushing third (1-4). The 125cc Pros and 125cc B classes ran together today and it was Kawasaki rider Grayson Hart who showed all on hand waat he learned from riding in the Golden State Nationals Series. The Kawasaki pilot had to fend off fellow pro Gary Beyer and a hoard of B riders to nab the first molO win. The B class was topped by Curt Cunningham (Kaw) over ~ana Anderson and David Browl)mg. Hart smoked to a total rout of the class in moto two for top cash payoff over Beyer. Andersol). turned the tables on the second B molO for a 2-1 overall to best Cunningham (14), Darren Rogers (5-2), Nick Blasdell (4-3) and Browning (3-5). Cunningham and Rogers again dueled in both. 250cc B motos. Cunningham came out on top of both motos to finish the day with an impressive three wins out of four motos. Rogers used seconds in both outings for runner-up honors ahead of Aaron Boehmer (4-3). Tracy Bethel (3-4) and Ray Gamon rounded out the top five. .Cotter was too much for the competition in the Open B class. The KX pilot made easy work of both motos, beating Honda riders David Hampton, Frank McKuhn and Doug MacDuffee. Cotter enjoyed a similar margin of victory in moth twO beating McKuhn .and Wes Hanson. The day's best battle came in moto two of a combined 30-40/Up The Hill class. Cotter holeshot with Bob Leach coming through traffic to nab Cotter on the last lap. Law, Patterson prevail at Albany By Clay Light ALBANY, OR, FEB. 28 Eric Law piloted his Cagiva to 2-1 rides to win the 125cc C class, which was the largest class of the day at the Albany Superctoss, with a line 'up of. 17 riders. . Joe Rushing was in command of moto one and carne away with the win followed by Law, Chad Berry, Dusty Brown and Dan .Beyer, both on Kawasakis. Law prevailed in moto two to grab the overall victory with Berry, Rushing, Beyer and Ray Stanerson filling the top five at moto's end. The overall finish read; Law (2-1), Rushing (1-3) and Berry a 3-2 third. Sixteen 80cc C riders assembled for their first moto and much like it's been all season, Travis Berry controlled the tempo of the class, good for a moto one victory. Yamaha rider Chris Patterson changed Berry's winning ways in moto two, relegating Berry to ~ond. Patterson picked up the moto WIn as well as the overall after impressive 2-1 rides to beat class dominator Berry. Berry posted 1-2 rides for second while Troy Kibble earned a third via 3-4 performances. Northern Oregonian David Browning put his Honda into the winner's circle after demolishing both 125cc B motos on the Kinnear Specialties-backed Honda. Kawasaki rider. Bobby Steiner finished second to Browning in both motos, good for second overall while Joe Casey took home third. Curt Cunningham continues his reign of terror in the state, thanks to the demise of class dominator Tony Graves. Cunningham swooped up both 250cc B motos, making up for dismal performances in the earlier 125cc B class. Honda riders Dan Gregory, Mike Holbrook, Aaron Boehmennd Bob Leach filled out the top five overall. Yamaha-mounted Roger Knight nailed holeshots in both Old Timers mOlOS and turned the second moto into an overall winniri~ ride. Knight held off first moto wmner Wayne Tenekieght for the overall. Third overall fell to Jim Denevan after posting 4-3 rides. Jessica Kirkman has a lengthy win streak going in the Pee Wee action. Jessica held off brother James in both mOlOS for the win.
