In the first Senior heat, Stueve had just pulled off the track after his _ Open heat win, but he led the field to the checkered flag. Mike Dugan moved inLOsecond place on the second lap LO claim that pol. Tom Jacobs topped the second Senior heat race with a wire-to-wire win. Greg JooP finished second. tueve got his usual holeshot in the finaJ and ran away to his second victory. Dugan haa a race going with Shumway, but with two laps to go Dugan took second for good with humway taking third. Tom Norris had his Can-Am hooked up in the 200cc class. He led every lap in both the heat race and the final. Dan Brown hounded Norris in both races, but came up short in both outings. Holt hauls at LA CounfyMX By Terry Rezek PALMDALE, CA, JAN. 25 The California Racing Club tried a new format this Sunday at Los Angeles County Raceway - a Vintage class. This class was open LO anyone with a bike made in 1974 or earl ier. This format proved entertaining and will be repeated once a month for the next three monlhs. Tony Pulliam scored th.e win in the inaugurdl Vintage class rdce, while Tim Holt took the I25cc Pro vicLOry. Pulliam showed that he had no trouble rid.ing a bike with just three inches of suspension. Pulliam won both Villlage class moLOS in comefrom-behind fashion. The race had some Honda 250cc Elsinores, two CZs, a Yamaha, and a '71 Bultaco. Bob Alvis had one of the Hondas and took both holeshots with Dan Hall not far behind. Pulliam was slow off the line on a 1971 Yamaha, but once rolling, he moved the little Yamaha quickly through the ranks. Pulliam moved right Ort by Hall and Alvis LO snag both wins. Hall followed for second. In the 125cc ovice wars, Tony Qualls took the moto one lead in midrdce and went on for the win followed by his usual nemisis, Mike Crosby, and transitioning 80cc rider Bubba Erickson. Qualls got the holeshot in molo two, but went down hard in the middle of the lap. Erich Broese!, who had crash problems in moLO one, moved steadily up LO the lead and took the moLO win, but was too far down in the total to place. Erickson came in at second and posted the best total to take the overall. Qualls was able to work his way back to fifth at the end. That was good enough for second overall. Jeff Barbacovi returned LO riding a£ter a three-year inj ury induced layoff and promptly showed that he remembered how LO read start gates. Barbacovi took the holeshot in both motos of the combined Intermediate and Pro race. In moLO one, another 125cc Intermediate, Scon Murphy shot by soon after turn two and led until 125cc Pro Holt worked his \\'ay through all the Intermediales and took the kad on lap four. Holl wellt on for the will and Murphy followed him in for first Intermediate. In moLO t"'0, Holt was off the Ii nt' right behind Barbaco\'i and shot past in turn I \\'0 for the lead. Holt won ag,tin for firsl o\'erall Pro ,md first I25cc rider while Murphy also reJX'ated for the 125cc Illlermediate o\'erall. Robbie Brand and Frank ing-er swapped moLO wins wilh in/{er /{elting the second win and lhc o\'crall 250cc Imermediale win. Newcomer Brell Dailey \\'on the 125cc Beginner class. leading- wirelo-wire in moto one and mo\'in~ quickly from second altlwstart 10 the lead and another win in moLO two. Kurt Prather survived a traumatic series of setbacks in Illoto one of the 250cc Beginners to take 'the moLO win, followed by Dan Aug-ino and Rocky Sifman.
