Jimmy Button won both motos in the Mini Expert class. but had to battle . with'Kawasaki rider Chris Neal (57) for the first moto victory. Rick Ryan (1) and Mike Healey sail off a jump as they battle for the lead in the second moto. Healey passed Ryan and scored the overall win. pull away slight.ly. Fisher still hung close to Myerscough and on the unal two laps he was within a few bike lengths of the leader. Fisher zeroed in on Myerscough during the final go-around as Myerscough was slowed by lapped riders. As the leaders entered the last twO turns' of the course Fisher was right behind Myerscough, but a lapper blocked off Fisher's chance to get by on the inside and Myerscough took the win. Fisher took second with Staten (hird ahead of Simons and Andrews. In the second I25cc mow Ryan led the pack on lap one, but the race was red flagged with several riders stuck in the starting gate. Ryan led the restart of the mow ahead of Lewis and Healey. The top three riders were all tightly bunched for the first three laps with Lewis trying LO apply pressure lo the leader. Ryan was riding on the ragged edge at times LO keep Lewis at bay, but only managed to pull out a small advantage by lap six. While Ryan and Lewis battled out front, Healey tried LO keep within striking distance of the lead duo. On lap seven Lewis crashed handing the second place spot LO Healey. Ryan maintained a comfortable rour-second . lead on Healey until lap nine when Healey had closed to within two seconds of Honda-mounted Ryan. At the start of lap IO Ryan's cushion was gone and Healey was right on his rear fender. Both riders ballied for most of the lap and they crested the uphill side-by-side, but Ryan held his line and maintained the lead. As Ryan blasted down thefront straight on lap II, Healey gassed itand pulled alongside, but was again held off by Ryan. Healey finally made his move just as they entered the back section of the course, forcing his way past Ryan and powering away toan immediate lead. Healey stretched out a good-sized lead on Ryan on the final lap and took the win and the overall victory. Ryan finished second, but Lewis' 2-4 tally netted him secon'd overall ahead of Ryan. . Smith nailed the holeshot in the second 250<:c moto and wasted no time roosting away LO a comfortable lead. First moLO winner Surrall got stuck in traffic and nelled a sixth place start. Smith was making it look easy out front while Dugmore had worked his way up to second. Surratt was flying through the pack, passing both Davis and Herring to take over. Smith was cruising Out front and was able to hold a lead of at least seven seconds for.most of the race in taking the win. Surrall made his way past Dugmore on lap fi ve and secured the overall in the process. Smith's second moto win nelled him second overall while Dugmore's2-3 was good enough for third. The second 500cc moLO looked LO be another Myerscough/Fisher showdown. WallS had thequick reflexes at the start of the moLO and he led the field through turn 0!1e, Myerscough pulled a fourth place start but, in the second turn following the tabletop jump, he crashed, By the time Myerscough got his Honda restarted he was dead last. . WatlS, who was riding in his fourth moto of the day, led Fisher, Staten and Simons around on lap one, Myerscough, meanwhile, was charging his way through the field and was near midpack. WallS and Fisher were running within a few bike lengths of each other while Staten, also riding in his fourth moto of the day, was a fading third with Simons a closing fourth. Myerscough, who had sliced his way through the pack, was up to fifth after two laps. WallS was working hard to establish a lead over Fisher and held a five-second lead by lap four. Simons had made his way around Staten, but was well behind ,the leaders. Myerscough was struggling with a flat front tire and crashed again belore eventually pulling out of the race. WallS and Fisher continued to lead for the remainder of the race, but with each lap Fisher narrowed the gapon WallS. By the ninth lap Fisher was within one second of the leader and started LO,challenge him for the LOp spot. Fisher's perseverence paid off as Watts was bucked off his Kawasaki in the rockers on lap nine, giving the lead to Fisher. Fisher had a huge lead on Simons and just cruised through the final lap to take the win and the overall victory. Staten finished third and Watts remounted in fourth. ''I'm real happy," Fisher said. ''I'm prelly sore from last night'S supercross, but I was hungry for a win and I wanted to put a SLOp to Myerscough's winning streak. "In the first moLO I was glad that I was behind him (Myerscough). I got a chance to learn his lines. He's such a strong rider. I was 25 points ahead of Myerscough coming into today's race, now I've got a prelly comfortable points lead." The Vet Pro class was an all Staten show again today as he led both moLOs wire-to-wire while holding a' good-sized lead on Semics in each moLO. Semics rode hard in the second moLO and kept within striking distance of Staten, but couldn't mount a serious charge. BUllon LOpped both mows of the Mini Expenclass, but had LO fight for the win in the first mow. BUllon, Chris Neal and Chad Pederson had a real dogfight for first place honors in the opener with a couple bike lengths separating them for several laps. Pederson bai led of( a t the bOllom of the big downhill on lap seven and dropped back. BUllon and Neal ballled to' the checkers, but Bullon took the wIn. In the second moLO BUllon took control and held the lead the entire way to claim the overall win.
