Meanwhile, Larson and Holland
started to batLle [or the lead, with
WallS and Kehoe having their own
war [or third place. Coming out o[ a
corner, Holland out powered Frank
for first, and then never looked back.
Kehoe followed suit, passing Frank
and taking over second place.
By the midway poim, Holland and
Kehoe had a good lead over third
place rider Watts, who was followed
by Brazil National Champion, Rodney Smith and Larson.
As the gate fell for moLO two, Frank
once again took the lead but it was
short lived, as Holland went around
in the "river" section of the course.
As the pack came inLO view from the
back section, it was Holland in front
with Kehoe on his rear fender in
second. Brian Manley and WallS
swapped places for third and fourth,
while Surrall followed in fifth.
On lap five, going over a drop-off,
Kehoe leaped over Holland's head
and into the the lead. Back in the race
for third, Surratt found a way around
both WallS and Manley, relegating
them LO fourth and fifth.
At the finish, Kehoe had stretched
out his lead LO about L5 seconds. Holland followed in for second with Surrallthird. Jeff Hicks worked his way
around the Manley and WallS ballle
to collect fourth, ju t ahead of Watts.
In the fir t500cc moLO, Willy Simons grabbed the holeshot but was
passed by Larson and Myerscough on
the [irst half of the course. Fisher,
Phil Lar on and Rob Andrews filled
the third through £i[th spots.
At the start of lap two, going over
the drop-of£, Mike Larson wem ocf
the course a bit, hitsome track markers
in midair and crashed upon landing,
letting Myerscough take over the lead.
Fisher also rode past the downed Larson for second. Larson got up and
going again in third with Simons
and Phil Larson following.
Fisher was using diCferent lines in
corners to gain some ground on
Myerscough. The two started battling
it out for the lead, with Larson dropping back and letting Simons take
over third.
On the last lap, the Myerscough/
Fisher battle had pulled a 20 second
lead on third place rider Simons.
Both from runners started to have
trouble with lappers, and with 40 feet
before the finish, a lapper suddenly
fell in front of Myerscough and Fisher.
Myer cough hesitated on which way
to go around the downed rider, and
Fisher gunned his Kawasaki past
Myerscough in a last-ditch effort for
the win.
Moto two saw Myerscough take the
holeshot with Mike Larson in second
place. Going over a high speed jump
Larson crashed. Laying on the track,
oCficials decided to restart the race
until Larson could be seen by ambulance attendants. Slightly dazed, Lar- son later walked back inLO the pits to
retire for the day.
Myerscough grabbed the restart
holeshot with Fisher and Larry
Dashiell in third. One lap later, Kip
Sandell passed Dashiell but looped
his Honda on ajump letting Simons,
who had just passed Danshiell, ride
into third.,
At the midway point. Myerscough
was starting LO pull a good lead over
Fisher. Simons was running third,
and English rider Andrews had
worked up to a fourth, followed by
Kawasaki rider Greg Torgerson.
The eighth lap saw the top four
holding onto their positions, with
the only battling happening for fifth.
Torgerson, Mark Banks and Rex
taten started to duel for a lap. Banks
made a pass stick and rode away for
fifth.
After 12 laps, Myerscough had taken
his third overall 500cc Pro victory.
Simons added a third overall to his
points status and Andrews netted a
fourth, his 5-4 finish acing out Staten's 6-6 tally.
Rick Ryan put his Honda into the
lead in the first I25cc Pro moLO ahead
of Whiting and Holland. Ty Davis
and Doug Dubach rounded out the
top fi ve in fourth and fifth.
By the third tap, Ryan started to
put a little distance on Whiting and
Holland. Going imo a tight, one line
left hand corner, Holland SlUffed his
Suzuki under Whiting's Cagiva for
second place.

Entering a sand wash on the fifth
lap, Holland fell and wasn't able to
get restarted until half the pack had
gone by. Davis took over second.
Whiting, now in third, was now
Erik Kehoe (85) and Tommy Watts had a battle for third place in the first
250cc Pro mota; Kehoe· went on to collect the overall win.
being pressured by Dubach. Tyson
Vohland had worked his way up LO
fifth and was gaining ground on
Dubach as well.
Crossing the finish line with a big
lead, Ryan took the win. Davis followed in for second with Whiting
finishing third. Dubach and Vohland coUected fourth and fifth.
Ryan sLOle the holeshot in moLO
two with Dubach on his rear fender,
but the two collided with both going
down. As the front TUners came into
view, it was Honda rider Dean Matson in the lead followed by Vohland.
Vohland quickly pas.sed Matson for
the lead with Chris Young, Davis and
Whiting filling out the three through
fifth spots.
On the second lap, Whiting and
Mike Healey both used Davis for a
berm and set their sights on Young.
Once past Young, Healey puta move
on Whiting in a rough section of the
course for third.
Lap five saw Vohland start to stretch
out his lead over Healey, who was
now in second place. Ryan was racing through the pack. A fourth place
would net him the overall, and Ryan
was riding the wheels off his Honda
to do so. Towards the end of th lap
Ryan passed Matson in fourth.
At the midway point, Healey was
starting toclo e in on Vohland's lead
with Whiting third. Even though he
had the overall in the bag Ryan set
out after Whiting. Coming out of a
corner Ryan hit the gasa littJequicker
and passed Whiting for third.
Near the end of the moLO, Healey
landed wrong off a jump injuring
himself and dropping back in the
pack. Ryan LOok command of third.
At the finish, it was Vohland out in
front, Whitingsecondand Ryan third.
Davis held on to a fourth place and
Mike Kiedrowski moved into fifth
when Healey dropped back.
In 80cc Expert racing, Emig put
his Kawasaki into the lead followed
closely by Suzuki's Gaddis. Battling
it out, Emig and Gaddis quickly
pulled away from the pack. Going
across !he deep whoop section, Gaddis went around Emig for the lead,
-with Chris Neal, Jimmy ButLOn and
Buddy Antunes following. At that
point, Gaddis started to pull away for
the win.
Moto two saw Emig again taking a
brief lead but was passed bv Gaddis.
Emig then went down in a sand wash.
letting Yamaha rider Chad Pederson
and Antunez ride by for second and
third.
On the second lap, Gaddis fell in
the same sand wash that claimed
Emig, knocking him back LO second.
Pederson and Gaddis started trading
places with the lead.
Towards the finish. Pederson, who
finished ninth in the first moLO, broke
free from Gaddis, pull ing a good lead
on the pack to win the moto, but not
the overall. Gaddis, by way of his 1-2
score, beat out Emig's 2-3 for second
and BUllon's 3-4 for third.
