SUZUKI QUAD RACER CRAMP Broesel bests LA SERIES CountyMX By Terry Rezek PALMDALE, CA, JAN. 11 Erich Broesel topped a competitive field of 125cc Novices today at LA County Raceway. Whatever else happensata California Racing Club motocross at LACR, there is usually a good show in the 125cc oviceevent. Today was no different as it was a Tony Qualls, Broesel, Mike Crosby show. These three put on the bestriding of the day. Qualls had the edge off the line as the gate dropped for moto one with Crosby as tight on his rear fender as a bumper sticker. Broesel was napping at the start and came out of the middle of the pack about fifth into the first turn. By the end of lap one, Broesel was in fourth. moving into third in the middle of lap four. Qualls and Crosby were well matched. both in skills and machinery. The lead would go to whomever was willing to take the bigger Tisk. Crosby seemed willing. He would bang into a corner and come out fast, hitting peak speed just as the next jump came up. This went on for severallaps; Qualls holding the lead and Crosby trying to leap past at every jump. In the middle of lap six, Crosby found that extra bit of speed and passed Qualls in midair over one of the the table top jumps. With the edge and only one lap to go, Crosby held on for the moLO win.
