"MOTORCYCLIST is a very balanced street- riding/road racing publication..." -Wendell Phillips few years I've concentrated on endurance racing. Team Lockhart won the 1984 Riverside Six Hour and the Sears Point Four Hour. In 1985, sponsored by Kawasaki Motors, we finished second in the AMA Endurance Series Championship and won the Daytona Six Hour. In 1986, sponsored by U.S. Suzuki, we scored five fir~ts and four seconds, claiming the MotaWorld AMA Endurance Series Championship. Team Lockhart has been in the winners' circle 18 times in 24 starts. Bikes currently owned: GSXRll00 Suzuki; FZ750 Yamaha; Nico Bakker-framed .Kawasaki 900 Ninja; Dandy pocketbike. . . Name: Wendell Phillips Occupation: President, Lock·hart Consumer Products; endurance racer, Team Lockhart , Company description: "We distribute products worldwide and specialize in sport bike acces.sories, apparel, and road racing equipment." Riding history: "I started riding motorcycles in 1974 as an alternative to racing sports cars, hoping I could get the same ex~ citement seven days a week. I did, but I didn't last very long on the street. The tickets started piling up, so my friends suggested I go road racing. We rented the Summit Point Race Track in West Virginia for a day and I've been racing ever since. Concurrently, my business goals changed to the motorcycle industry, which led me to exciting positions with the Motorcycle U:S.A. Show, Motorcycle Dealernews, Micronics, and Lockhart." Racing history: "In my first year of road racing, -I campajgned a 550cc Honda to a class championship by winning 10 out of 11 sprint races. I moved to California and received sponsorship from many endurance teams and from Mr. Jags for sprint rides. Winning with the Mr. Jags Norton against the big four-cylinder Japanese bikes in '79 through '82 was a lot of fun. The past Magazine: "MOTORCYCLIST is a very balanced street riding/ road racing publication with great editorial fommentary, new model road tests, product evaluations, and in-depth competition coverage. They should be commended for their many articles relating to riding safety and 'how to' begin road racing. On the lighter side, there's 'The Last Page.' It's always slightly off-thewall and very entertaining. I have to admit that 'The Last Page' is what I read first." AT NEWSSTANDS FOR $24,00 PER YEAR OR BY SUBSCRIPTION FOR $13.94.
