.second molO and restarted far back in about 20th spot. Meanwhile, Howell 'took the lead with Rogers in hot pursuit. Rogers hounded Howell every '"inch of the way but Howell held firm and won with a two-second margin. -Howell claimed top gold via his 3-1 cover Rogers' pair of seconds. A spectacular charge through traffic by Houser netted a fourth place finish and third overall. The first Open Amateur moto saw Lee Bryant go past Kevin Austin in the early laps to take over the lead. Thus began a three-way battle for the lead with Austin and Shannon Hawkins pressuring leader Bryant. On the last lap, however, Tim Huffman came out of nowhere and swept past Austin and Hawkins to finish second behind Bryan t. Moto two saw Huffman take an early lead with Bryant close behind in second. [n a last-lap winner-lake-all situation, Bryant made a bid to pass Hurrman only to crash back lO a fifth place finish. Huffman held on for the win and the overall while Hawkins posted 3-3 for second over Bryant's 1-5. Austin had problems in moto two and tallied 4-10 for seventh overall. Blasdell blasts WoodlandMX By Derryl Anderson WOODLAND, WA, DEC. 27 Kawasaki-mounted Nick Blasdell rode two perfect motos to take the overall win in the 250cc B class today at Woodland Motocross Park on this spring-like day. It was also the first of two double point races for this season. Scott Hicks rode consistent enough to take the win in the 125cc B class while narrowly holding back Darren Rogers and Lance Rudge. Ted DeVol got the early lead in the 250cc B class followed by Kurt Stevens, Tracy Bethel, ick Blasdell and the others. Jeff Jacobson and Wayne Dixon both moved up on lap two while Blasdell began his move on the leaders. By lap three Blasdell was up lO third and ready to gun down the leaders. Stevens took over the lead for one lap before Blasdell got by him for good. Blasdell looked super, while the rest of the pack battled for positions. Mike William worked his way up lO second twice before taking that spot for good. At the checkered flag the order went Blasdell, Williams, Stevens, Bethel, DeVol, Dixon, Jac' obson and the rest. In the final molO Blasdell grabbed the holeshot ahead of Williams, Stevens, Mike Kates, DeVol, Bethel, Scott Bergren and the others. Behind them at the finish was Bethel, DeVol, Bergren and Kates. In the 125cc class Blasdell got the lead ahead of Dennis McConnell, Ed Jensen, Scott Hickson, David Browning and the rest. Blasdell went the distance with Hickson, McConnell, Rudge, Derek Hughes, Rogers and the others right behind him at the checkered flag. Jeff Mabery and, Chris Young, both Yamaha-mounted. Moto one was a four-rider battle in the early stages as Kawasaki rider Jimmy Palmer played trade-a-slot with the leaders, but dropped 0[£ the pace near midpoint after a tumble. Healey opened some breathing room over the second place duel which ended at the checkers with Mabery just ahead of Young. Second round action featured a near replay of the earlier nail-biter and all positions held to the finish and an overall order numerically identical to moto one. The 125cc Intermediate apparently took their lead from the Pro event as each competitor fell neatly into an organized slot for each moto and the overall. Honda rider Paul Vlach proved fastest while David Church kept his Kawasaki j tist in front of third place finisher Mike Weise on a Yamaha. The Vet Experts finally provided a bit of anticipation between motos as brothers Keith and Kenny Ehlers engaged in a touch of sibling poli teness with each posting a molO victory with the overall win going to Kenny. Chasing the Yamaha riders in for third place honors was Kawasaki rider was George Kohler. ~ WE'VE GOT YOUR TICKETS TO DAYTONA!!!
