Dean Autrey's 1-2 edged out Chris Clark's 2-1 today to take the overall win in the 250cc class of the scrambles held at Woodland MOlocross Park. There was plemy of controversy in moLO lWO however. Clark's lasllap pass of Autrey was said LO haveoccured under a yellow £lag which changed Clark's finish lO a 2-2. In moLO one Autrey gOl the holeShOl ahead of Reed Eihs, Clark, Eddie Gerrish, Barry and Ken Swires. Gerrish 10Sl il in lurn three and had to play catch up. By lap two AUlrey had a 20-yard lead on Clark, who had jusl moved by Eills. On lap lhree EillS crashed and look a while lO gel going again. Wilh a lap lO go Gerrish was up lO fourth, bUl needed more lime lO calch the leaders. Al the flag il was Autrey, Clark and then 40 yards back lO Ken Swires, Gerrish and the olhers. In the final moLO AUlrey gOl lhe lead once again followed by Gerrish, Clark and EilLs. Ken Swires losl control righl in front of the Bagger on lap lWO, while the front trio ran ulLra dose. For lhree laps Clark and Gerrish exchanged posilions, somelimes several limes per lap. Barry Swire, fell on lap six and did nOl restart. Meanwhile Clark was pressuring AUlrey and wilh one lap remaining he passed the leader on the backstrelch. According LO some the yellow flag was slill OUl from Swires' crash. At the end il was Clark, who looked excellent, then Autrey, Gerrish and Eilts. The c1aimea 'yellow £lag pass by Clark pUl him back lO second as Aulrey was declared the final and overall winner. In the firsl moLO of the Open class Jim Servo made his firsl appearance in a long lime al Woodland. Servo wasled lillIe lime in grabbing the holeshol ahead of Dave Slerin~, Perry Tonsgard and Mike Niday. Servo soon enjoyed a 20-yard lead over the olhers, who were running very close logether. Tonsgard passed Slering, bUl the trio remained close for anolher lap. Servo was smoolh, now Wilh a 25-yard lead over Tonsgard and Niday, who were 15 yards ahead of Slering. Al the checkered flag the order remained the same. In the final moLO Servo gOl lhe holeshol and wenl wire-lo-wire for lhe win followed in order by Tonsgard, Niday and Sterling. Results WEE PEE WEE: 1. Raben Holtgren; 2 Joshua meeling for the 1986 season. Wilh more lhan a few class liLies al Slake, racing condilions were ideal wilh fair lemperalures, sunny skies and a dislincllack of Willow Spring's gusling winds. Nonon-mounted Fred Eiker came iDlo the final Heavyweighl BaTT race with a slim five-pointadvanlage over Ducali-moumed Earl Campbell and the BSA of Bates Leather's Mick Olfield, bUl Kevin Erion and his Ducali FI led from the flag and immedialely sel a quick pace. F-l-mounled Trevor Dunne shadowed Erion on the inilial lap with Bill Fennessy third, Campbell fourth and Eiker and Olfield buried in midpack. By lap lWO, Erion mainlained a slim lead over Dunne, wilh Tom Sharp's Harley-Davidson in lhird and Eiker in founh Spol after slicing lhrough' the pack and displacing Campbell LO fifth. While Dunne pressured Erion hard on lap lhree and look the lead, Eiker and Ol£ield were charging and had moved into third and fifth, respec: lively. Sharp, meanwhile, still held down fourlh spot. Lap four saw the leading trio of Dunne, Erion and Eiker pull slighlly away from lhe Sharp-Olfield ballle for founh. Tht; lhree riders were charging into lurn six, a lricky, downhill lefl-hander, lhree abreasl and none of the three had any apparem advantage over lhe; olhers. BUl Dunne paid dearly for hi~ speediness and crashed on lap fiv~ handing the lead back LO Erion, who led Eiker by the slimmesl of margins. Olfield was hounding Sharp for lhird place honors and gOl by on lhe lasllap, giving him a lhird place fin· ish for the day as well as a lhird overall for the year in the big-bore Bo division. Eiker was contemlo finish in second Spol for the day and ear the class championship for his effoIt!1 while Erion capped his weekend witlJl a win and a load of confidence for neXl year. ~ Kawasaki 600 Ninja-mounted Earl; Roloff easily won the A portion o(i the 600cc Superstreel race - and his second consecutive 600 Superstreet class championship - despile hard riding by Honda 500 Interceptor" mounted Calvin Rayborn III and Terry StaLUm on a Yamaha. Roloff grabbed the holeshol in lhe event wilh Todd Rawson close behind in second and Rayborn in third, but al the end of the second lap, Rawson fell hard in lurn nine and the race was red-flagged and restaned, WilhoUlj Rawson. ~ Roloff again look command with. Rayborn in second, Slalum lhird and: Yamaha-mounted Roddy RodsleiDl in fourth. Allhe halfway point Rolof~ slrelched his lead lO three seconds! over the ridiculously oUl-molOred Rayborn, who was riding a borrowed 500 Honda, with Rodslein third and Stalum founh.
