Honda CR500-mounted yerscough had a four-second lead ver Kurt Sofka J r., Kenny Zahrt was irst 250cc pilot followed closely by odd Campbell on a 1987 KTM 250 nd Kawasaki rider Craig Canoy also n a 250. The 125cc Pro class was up for rabs as Honda support rider Ty avis on a Malcolm Smith-sponsored 25 was being challenged by Kawa'aki's Eddie Hicks, and Cagivaounted Mike Healey. In fourth was uzuki spon ored Willie Surratl. Halfway through lap two Myersough had pulled out to a 20-second ead over ofka. In third was Greg lack well with Zahrt's Honda in ourth overall. Coming over the tableop jump first place I 25ccrider Davis as still holding orr the other l25cc ros. Surrau had closed on Hicks fter passing Healey on the off-road ection of the course. On lap three ahrt had moved into third with mpbell close behind. Surrau had ow moved up to fifth overall and irst 125, wi th Hicks three seconds hind. On the next lap Myerscough had opened up a 35-second lead on Zahrt, who now was in second just ahead of Surratt who was closing on Zahrl. A few laps later Zahrt encountered lapped riders enabling Surratt now back in the 125cc lead after dropping back to close in again. Hicks wa still second l25cc Pro, but was being pressured by Davis. Two corners later Davis zapped Hicks for second and started to close the distance on Surratl. Healey was now closing on Hicks and on the next lap was all over the track trying LO get by. Healey tried the inside line, then the outside line only LO be held off again and again.. On the next lap Healey set Hicks up going around a sweeper that led to a fast jump and passed Hicks in midair. With Myerscough now over half the course ahead of everyone, the attention was focused on the l25cc battle as Davis was closing in on Surratt and Healey and riding on the ragged edge trying to make up the distance. Davis and Healey were ql.\ickly dosing on Surratt. As the race neared the fini h Myerscough had now lapped up to seventh pace and at the beginning of the white £lag lap Myerscough pulled a lOO-yard wheelie down the scoring LOwer straight. Davis had now narrowed the gap between himself and Surrau down to eight seconds, with Healey another 10 seconds behind. The final lap found everyone in the same positions in the l25cc Pro class. Blackwell and Sofka took second and third spots in the Open Pro class. Zahrt crossed the checkers first in the 250cc Pros, Campbell claimed second and Kawasakimounted Craig Canoy held down the third spot. Results 60 -8 YRS: 1.
