This was the second night of N .A.M.E.-sanctioned racing at Asheville's Western North Carolina Agricultural Center, the econd in the series of Mid-Atlantic Championship Arenacro ses and there were over 2000 fans on hand for another full evening of races. The 85cc 12-l5-year-olds led off the evening's racing action and it was Hank Moree who led the pack into turn one, but Moree piled into Lee Watson and Jamie Macking as they came through the first corner, handing the lead to Yamaha-mounted Mike Brown. Moree was back in action quickly and managed LO hold second place. There was a good battle up front as Brown and Moree shot it out for first place honors, but late in the race lapped traffic held up Moree and let Brown pull away to a threesecond lead and the victory. Brown took the overall points championship with his win tonight and a second the night before, edging out Moree. There was another first turn tangle in the l25cc Amateur class. Tyndall, Jason Snyder and Richie Clippard all took a dive in turn one, leaving Blackmon with the lead and Paul FirnschiId econd. The moLO was dominated by Blackmon and Firnschild as both riders battled wheel-towheel for first place honors. Blackmon LOok the win, but second place Firnschild took the overall with his third the previous night. Kawasaki-mounted John McClure took his second win in the 250cc ovice class LOnight. McClurekored the win the previous nigh t and tonigh t wa no different, he moved into first place on lap three and never looked back. The moLO ended with McClure out front and Chris Rash in second. McClure's perfect score netted him the overall points vicLOry for the class. Several riders went down in a first turn crash in the l25cc Pro moLO, but Jim Chester motored by the carnage to snag first place. Chester had the track at Asheville mastered, he rode a smooth and consistent race out front and was never threatened for the lead.
