Taylor shot into the lead in the first race with Jeff Kerhonen and Jeff Murphy trying LO chase him down. As Taylor started LO lengthen his lead, Kerhonen and Murphy were joined by Jeff Hodge in the first for second. Taylor was the easy winner over Kerhonen and Hodge in thefirsLTound.1t was EP-sponsored Taylor once again, snaring his second straight holeshot. This time, it was Kerhonen and Dean Campbell trying to catch him. Taylor continued to stretch his lead as the top three spots remained unchanged all the way LO the checkers. Final postings had Taylor with the win, Kerhonen second and Campbell third. Ron Watmore and his Yamaha took second overall in the 250cc Pro class during Firebird motocross in Arizona. Bachman bags Beaver Valley MX By Curt Boronio HOOKSTOWN, PA, NOV. 16 Honda-mounted David Bachman took the overall win in the 250cc Expert class with a I-I score at Beaver Valley today. 32 In the first moto Vernon Frey, riding a Honda took the holeshot and lead Bachman for the first four laps. On the final lap Bachman made his move and passed Frey on the double jumps, just before the finish line. Yamaha-mounted David Onuska took third. Frey repeated his holeshot performance of the first moto in the second and led the race for two laps. Bachman tired of following' Frey and blasted past on lap two and went on to score the victory. Frey took second, Onuska was again third. In the l25cc Expert class it was Honda rider Wayne Arlet who led both motos to score the overall win ahead of Charles Richards and Chris Munson. Hill hammers Las VegasMX By Dick Goodwin LAS VEGAS, NV, NOV. 9 The Las Vegas Motocross Club opened the Nevada State Championships at the Las Vegas International Raceway today with the first in a three-race series. A large class of Super Vets (25 years and older) tied it up in the day's second event. Barry Hill blasted his competition, winning both ends of the contest with relative ease. Positions two through six were a wild scramble however, with Roger Wells holding off the rest of them to nail second spot. Moto one began with a Hill holeshot. EP'sBiII Buuram and Honda of Las Vegas-sponsored Roger Wells wererighton his tailpipe. Hill found that extra speed in his Maico and pulled away from the rest of the field. Moree takes NAME AX debut By Earl Walton ASHEVILLE, NC, NOV. 21 The National Motorsports Enterprises (N AM E) kiCked off it's first race with an Arenacross at Asheville's Western orth Carolina Agricultural Center Arena. World Mini Champion Hank Moree LOok home the honors in two of the Mini c1asse LOnight at Asheville, scoring wins in the Super Mini and 85cc 12-15-year-old class. Over 130 riders kept the nearly 1500 [an on their [eet with a [ull evening of racing sponsored by Scott USA, Gear Racewear, JP Racing and Hoosier Racing Tires. The evening's first race was the 85cc 12-15-year-old class and it was Moree who grabbed the hole hot, but he got tangled in a first-turn pileup. Mike BroW'n put his Honda out in front with Chad Powers in second and Moree in third. By the end of the first lap it was Brown and Moree out front, battling for the lead. On lap four lapped traffic created an opprotunity for Moree LO work his way past Brown on the far side of the horseshoe-shaped layout and take over the lead. From that point on it was all Moree's race, as the Kawasaki rider took home the first place check. Brown took second and Powers was third. In the 125cc Amateur division Ray Tyndall piloted his Yamaha to the holeshot and never looked back, takingthe victory. Richie Clippard was nearly two seconds behind Tyndall and he had to struggle through the race, but managed to hold on for second ahead of Suzuki-mounted Paul Firnschild. The 250cc Novice class saw John McClure take home the victory with little trouble holding off Chad Pill and Ken Ferrell. In the I25cc Novices Warren Robinson fought off the II other riders in his class to walk away with the top honors in that class, followed by Wayne Guin and Billy Taylor.
