I Kawasaki speedster Jeff Daily won two classes at the second round of the 1986-87 Motocross Northwest Winter Series at Clarks Branch Raceway. Daily demolished the 80ccExpert class and came back'to do the same in the 125cc B ranks. Yamaha-mounted Terry Davis destroyed the largest class of ,the race program, the I 25cc C class. Yamaha of Roseburg-backed Davis shot off the line at the drop of the gate to lead the first 125cc C moto and took advantage of perfect track con.ditions lO launch into an uncontested lead that the local rider would take to the checkered flag for the molO win over Rob Spring and Bryan Steel. The second time out, Davis showered the competition with southern Oregon silt en route lo a second moto romp. Second in the molO and in the overall standings went the way of Kawasaki rider Scott White via 4-2 rides with Steel taking third. Team Green's Daily slOle the show in combined 80cc action. Daily and local product Ryan Huffman continue lo be the state's fastest mini bike riders and put on a sensational swapfest for the lead, but as usual Daily prevailed when the chips were down. Third in the molO fell to Chuckie Standeford over Chad Berry and C portion winner Shawn Highland. MOlO two was again Daily's on the PJI/ScottiEastside Kawasaki machine for his first overall win while the B , win was nabbed by Huffman. Highland again came out on top in the C class to beat Travis Berry and Jason Mathews. Tony Graves didn't have his usual sensational day and got a good glimpse of Daily out in front of the first 125cc B moto. Graves suffered from rare bad starts and spent the majority of both motos reeling in the field. Daily won molO one ahead of fellow K.X pilot Curt Cunningham, Monty Spalding and Graves. The second time out had Daily in first while Graves gated near the end of the pack. Daily did a marvelous job of holding off Cunningham for the second moto win and the overall ahead of Cunningham, Spalding, Darren Clayton and Graves. The 250cc B class was much easier for White Brothers-sponsored Graves, who recently won Oregon State Championships in the 125 and 250cc classes. The day's best performance came from Cunningham, who was again Kawasaki-mounted. Cunningham held off Graves for a win in molO one with Rob Annen taking third ahead of Chris Nicholls and Aaron Boehmer. In molO two, Cunningham was a no-show which made things much easier for Graves to capture his only overall win of the day. Annen was second overall and third went to Nichols over. Dan Mathis.
