zeroing check three on his Husky and taking the win in the Open A class. John Moody had his four-stroke thumpin', zeroing check three and he tOO went on to win his class. Check four had all the riders dropping points. The best score belonged LO Ron Gray, who finished second in his class dropping 10 points at check four, Schmidt dropped II as didTerry Anderson who also finished second in his class. Most of the class winners managed LO zero checks five and six but all riders lost points at the final check. The best ride here was put in by Fred Beaver on his 200cc Kawasaki, dropping five points to finish second in his class with a 37 point loss. Schmidt had a 21 points loss, while Moody, his nearest competitor had 26 points. The C class, Sportsman and Super Seniors rode the same course finishing at check four. They found the speeds fast for their riding skills and some houred out. Duane Schosback, riding in the biggest class came up with the fewest points in winning the C class with a 30 point loss. Jeff Stevens took the Sportsman with a 31 point loss. John Nielsen, who held the distinction as the sole rider to zero check point one and carrying the smallest point loss toward the finish, saw his hopes diminish as the spark went out in his 400cc Husky, costing him the event. improvement m his climb to third overall. Yamaha pilot Dan Sanchez took all the marbles in the Old Timer intermediate event. Sanchez clearly had the measure of the field as he LOpped both rounds despite a come-from-behind charge by TUnner-up John Tartaglia on a Honda. Suzuki rider Kurt Sorka placed third. The Open Intermediate clas featured an uncharacteristic shU££Iing of the LOp five places that certainly left the outcome in doubt even after the final checkers had been thrown. Finally when the dust settled and the score totalled, Yamaha rider Mark J ones was declared the winner with a 1-3 score over Honda-mounted Steve Piattoni, while second-moLO winner Kenny Maddux had to settle for third overall ahead of another Yamaha rider Chris Rad2inski. Dubach powered his Yamaha into the lead in both motos despite intense competition from Suzuki rider Bobby Moore, Kawasaki pilot Jeff Mana evich and Yamaha-mounted Jeff Mabery, Moore just edged his competiLOrs for the number two slot as Mabery and Matiasevich traded thirdplace finishes with Mabery taking the slot as Honda rider Willy Musgrave rounded out the LOp five. Dubach returned to action in the 250cc Pro class where he and Honda rider Brian Manley engaged in an old fashioned moLO rumble with Manley taking the overall after a brilliant second-moLO ride got him to the checkers on time to outpoint Dubach. Mabery picked up a few more spendables with a third-place finish in the quarter-liter class just ahead of Musgrave, who also made the switch LOa Yamaha for the class. Suzuki stylist Luther French rounded 'Out the top five. Gary Jones continued his march to the series top with another Vet Expert win over a hard charging Alan Olson. Jones put his Yamaha out front of Olson's Honda in each moLO but Olson kept the battle close. Honda rider Robert Fortier showed steady DADE CITY, FL, OCT. 25 John Reinholt cap lured the overall win in Dade City Raceway's $500 guaranteed Pro class purse with a 3-2 moto score, beating out molO winners Kraig Constantinoand Vince DeVane. The event was run during Dade City Raceway's normal aturday night program on the eve of the Dade City round of the Florida Gold Cup Series and featured some of the fastest local talent in Florida, including national pro DeVane and Jeff Frisz. The racing was hot and heavy all night long, as the riders ripped around the recently redesigned Dade City circuit. As the pack shot 0[£ the line and roared into the first turn it was 16year-old Kraig Constantino who boILed into the lead oh his YZ490. Yamaha rider Keith Olerich slipped to the inside to grab second, with Suzuki mounted Jeff Frisz taking third. Frisz immediately began to pressure Olerich for second and soon squirted by with a banzai charge over the doubles. Now it was a race to see if Frisz could catch Constantino before the checkers. With each lap Constantino would use his 490's horsepower lO strengthen his lead on the long back straight, only lO have Frisz, on his more nimble250, close in on him as they entered the doubles and the tighter sections of the race track. On the last lap Frisz moved alongside Constantino.
